turbo really loud

How loud is the stock turbo on an s13 sr20? My boost gauge reads normal levels of boost, but the turbo makes a really loud whistling noise---I mean really loud when you step on the gas. I know turbos make noise, I used to own a 300zxTT, and I never heard it make this loud of a noise, could it be a sign of wear????? Also how can I check to see if my turbo is receiving oil and water???

Well the easiest way to see if it receives fluids would be to detatch the return lines. If water and oil come out than its pretty evident that its receiving fluids. Check for crimps in the metal hoses though.

Mine is fairly loud, even when the windows are up (radio off) I can hear it spool up and then whistle when its spooling down (T25 Stock boost). Mine runs just fine, it was rebuilt 5 months ago.

Lots of times if you can hear BIG turbo noise, there's a boost leak somewhere allowing you to hear it that well. It's another thing to check out.
