So long story short right now I have a used Turbonetics Ball Bearing turbo on my RB25. The specs from what I know are a 50mm compressor wheel, 2.5in inlet and 2in outlet on the compressor side. A .48ar exhaust housing with a 49mm wheel and 2in outlet (still internally wastegated). I am switching to a external wastegate setup and have 2 options here.

1) Is to get a .63ar housing from turbonetics for I am guessing $250 or so but I Think the max power this turbo would do is 350? Someone correct me if I am wrong.

2)Sell the turbo as is right now for $350-$375 and find a used Precision SC-61.

Now my power goal would be 400ish. So am I better off just staying with the Turbonetics turbo and getting the bigger housing or should I switch the SC-61.

I am leaning to just getting the housing for the Turbonetics turbo because I don't know if I have any plans to go beyond 400hp any time soon but let me know what you guys think.

well everyone on here is going to tell you to go w/ the SC61 because it makes more power...but its what you want. Does your car have the supporting mods to handle the bigger turbo? I say keep it simple if you dont want or need the more power now...Why are you switching to external?

What turbo is it exactly?

50mm inducer or exducer?

Keep the BB and upgrade to the .63 A/R hot-side, your RB25 will have killer response!

The 61 is a more "Peaky" oriented type of turbo. Good for drags though.
