turbo prob

i was backing up and hit a curb with my muffler and ever since then i havent been able to spool up right. it makes a noise like there is paper in the way of the turbine or something. any ideas what this could be? 89 240sx sr20det

Was the pipe bent ? have you check your exhuast ?

if you hit the exhaust you have to remember its bolted to the turbo so it will feel a shock and if stressed while hot i have seen cracks before- check all connections where exhuast bolts together- do this while car is extremly cold and you start it you can feel the exhaust leak before exhaust gets hot-

ill check out the pipeing in the morning tomorrow. i dont see it bent other than where it should be. and when i take the turbo off ill check for any cracks there too. you think the noise is comming from a gasket being blown? do you think it is dangerous to drive it like i am? im not boosting but if i do...do you think i can hurt the turbo or the motor? thanks for the input tho.

most likely your leak is after turbo and will not hurt car but will hurt performance- i would check all gaskets and piping-

so even if the turbo --> ex manifold gasket is blown it wont hurt the car or turbo?

do you have a flex pipe in your exhaust system? sounds like you have a crack/exhaust leak.

no flex pipe. im going to have it checked out tomorrow and ill post what the prob was. hopefully nothing serious.
