If you have plenty of money put an RB in it .If it was mine i would turbo the KA (a lot less trouble).

the RB is a neet swapp..but..think in terms of pwer to wieght ratio..the RB is a hefty engine compared to a ka-t...if you have "for an example" a v8 with 400hp and a curb wieght of 5500lbs...vs...a ka-t with say 260 hp and a curb wieght of 2500lbs..you would own the v8...due to the amount of wieght that has to be powered...if you look at it in a dragracing terminology..every 100lbs off a car is said to give you 1/10 a second off your time at the traps...its like adding hosepower without a bolt on...id go KA-T for just this reason..you can get high hp..with less wieght.

the ka weighs about 371lbs with out the trans and if i remember when my friend got his rb25 with the transmission weighed it had no fluid in it just transmission fluid and it was 750ish so thats a big weight diff. Now if you want good power and low weight the ka is a good way to go but iam a fan of the lsx swaps ie ls1 or ls2. the stock complete ls1 weights 400 and the ls2 isnt much more. its money to do them swaps but the power you get is there all the time no wait for the turbo.

LOL The weight difference is minimal.

Ive had NA KAs and so far only driven my RB20 (I have both a rb20 and rb25) and I love my RB's. They sound amazing, make great power, and rev to 7500 all day every day. The parts are a little more expensive but they are plenty common.

The rb25 has good displacement, rev ability, sounds amazing, and its good for a reliable 500whp stock in good shape and with a good tune. They also have very strong transmissions. Its also an OEM turbo motor which is a huge plus. Just drop it in stock with a 3in exhaust and a front mount and your looking at 240-260whp and just as much torque and being completely reliable.

The KA-T is great because you can build it to suite your needs. Great thing is local parts are super easy to get, and aftermarket is growing all the time. Great option if its a daily driver. There is more room under hood. But to get a good transmission you need a z32 trans and adaptor plate. 250-400whp is very reliable on a good condition engine.

Baically, if you want the sound, jdmness and oem relability RBs are great. you'll just have to deal with a little longer to get parts and them being more expensive.

Or you can do a KA-T and build it eactly how you want, hp wise. Great cheap parts support and easy to work on. Great option for a daily driver.

rbs are ok but the parts arnt that easy to come by same with any engin that you get thats from japan. the lsx platfrom is crazy in a 240 add a cam headers intake you talking some serious power i agree that the rb sounds sick but a v8 with electric cut outs will make some one piss there pants if they see a 240 yelling at them like that
