I have a 90 240sx with the KA24E motor set. I want more power but have a limited buget. Would making that engine a turbo be a good idea, because i found a complete turbo kit from cxraceing.com for it. If not any ideas? Because i don't have the money for the SR20 swap. Plus if I do do forced induction should I rebuild the engine?

Well, first of all how many miles does the engine have? HP goals? You should also do a leak and compression test before thinking of boosting the sohc. If all goes well, go ahead and turbo it but I would recommend a rebuild. If not, then a rebuild down the road should be in your plans. As for the cxracing kit. Don't buy it. Instead, go with the JGS starter kit. Its like 1k (without the turbo).

Good luck.

the turbo kit it self isnt expansive, but after you got into it you'll be adding more parts. i suggest you just get a sr20 its not that much more than the turbo. i am tell you this because i regret doing ka-et and will get a rb when i save a bit more money. i have about 8k on to my car right not but that included the parts i brought for my z32 brakes which i have another set. but if do get the turbokit from cxracing get a new clutch along with it, a stage 2 would be fine and remember to retard the timing. make sure u have all the exhaust stud and get a real wastegate. another thing with their kit is that the gauge they come with sucks so get a set or glow shift or something better.

Thanks for the help about the kit info. And it's got a little over 200xxx so i think i'll rebuild before turbo. Got any ideas for a good rebuild kit or seperate parts? Thanks for the help.

How hard is it to get a CA18 for one? I've never thought about this.

CA18DET FTW.

They are getting alittle rarer these days but most importers still have at least 1 complete swap.

The swap itself is no different from the SR, but dare i say its actually easier. Same motormounts, same radiator as KA. You can get it done in a weekend with a friend and some vodka.

Come visit us in the CA18DET forum and we will gladly help you.

If you dont find a complete swap just pick up what you can and hustle the rest through the parts hoarders in the CADET forum.zeroforum?id=126

Its better bang for buck, than the "JDM" taxed SR.Trust me you wont regret it.

Meh, I was debating the CX kit myself for a while.

If you play it safe with the boost and hook everything up properly to last, you shouldn't have too much of a problem. It's not going to be a top notch kit, but it does the job.

There's a dude local that's running the sohc kit, and he does pretty damn well.

rebuild + egay turbo kit < any swap

think about it

if your cheaping out on a turbo kit, you will prob skimp on OEM rebuild parts

budget build and power cannot all be in the same sentence.
