If i wanted to slap a turbo on my Stock 93' 240SX Coupe that has a RB24Det engine. 2.4 Liter Twin cam 16 valve. 155 bhp.... would it be wiser to just get a sr20det or if i did put a turbo on my engine would i have to make a lot of other mods and tweaks such as buying other parts for my engine to hold together?

The engine has 104,000 miles on it right now and its not even stickshift but i could get one if anything.

ok first of all wrong section. second of all you have a ka424de(not with a T, T=turbo) not an rb. third of all search a little before you post, this has been asked about 10000000 times already. fourth of all this is an argument that will never end the KA vs. SR, im more towards teh ka because of torqe and many other things but. either of the motors are great. turboing your ka might be a little easier then an sr swap because you dont sound like you know what your doing but... we all have to start somewhere, i jsut dont think that a turbo swap should be your first thing. hop on some other forums and start reading about everything. get an exaust and and intake and a few other mods and get your car to where you can actually do something to it. mabey some underdrive pullies and stuff. and dont do anything ghetto because it WILL come back at your and bite you in the ***.

I dont have too big of an extensive knowledge on turbocharged engines and yes getting a exhaust system and intake was actually my plan b4 getting the turbo...i just wanted to know about that swap b4 actually doing it.

well then you need to stay away from a turbo then because you will end up screwing something up if you dont kno what your doing. keeping you car NA isnt bad at all. hell you can get your car pretty damn fast with a few mods here and there. but it takes more then just basic skills to do it, i would just stick with the more obligitory things cai/exaust/plugs/wires/headers/lowering spring and then later on you can move up to cams/safc/5 spd swaps/lsd's/struts/short shifters and what not. just dont just into modding cars balls first becuase you will end up screwing yourself in the *** with huge bills that u have to pay to get your **** fixed.

lsd = limited slip differential

This fact could of been found with one (quick and easy) search. From looking at your post I suggest you stay away from upgrading your car. I suggest you start doing your homework (researching). If you even quickly glanced at the engine forums you would of saw the word skyline used in the "RB" section. That should of broke any connection to think your car is RB powered. There is a reason the faq's exist. It's to educate people with no/little knowledge and to correct common misconceptions. Go read them all, read through old pages. Google does wonders too. Do you perform regular maintenance on your car? Have you ever worked on your car? Have you ever worked with tools, any kind of mechanical experience? If you answer no to more than one of these and you have decided that you do not want to do these things. Then sell your car, if you just want something fast there are plenty of domestics. (Mustangs, Firebirds, Camaro's, GTO, etc..) If you want to be able to say yes to those questions, drop all your plans to upgrade your car for a while. Research, learn your car, hell reading the fsm (factory support manual) will do amazing things to your knowledge. Learn from others, more then likely they have taken the wrong path and learned the hardway. One more thing, if you keep the car and get to the point that your ready for your first set of upgrades. Don't buy cheap parts, they'll break/destroy your car and cost over twice as much the "top of line" parts in the long run.

I have worked on the car b4...Both my fathe/brother are mechanic veterans ... and my best friends father is a master mechanic for honda..so he knows his way around.

i have regularly checked my cars mechanical needs...just did an oil change..have brand new shocks.. new tires new rims. and yes i know my way around tools...this is my first 240sx but not my first import...b4 the 240 i had a 93 civic.

and ur right i do need to do a lil more research which i have been doin and i have extensive bodywork knowledge. put body kits for 3 imports...including bondowork...fiberglass etc.

While having mechanic friends is always helpful, nothing beats doing it yourself.When you start to work on your car have your father/brother oversee what you do. That way anything you don't understand can be answered quickly and you'll learn how to do it right the first time around. Nothing can beat the satisfaction of people giving you compliments on your car, especially after you tell them the work was all done by yourself. Also, being knowledgeable and being able to help others will show other you know your stuff. Having bodywork knowledge is a good start. Setting a goal for the car is good start, plan for the track, (drift? auto x?) plan for the show, or plan for a rounded out daily driver? Of course there are many more plans you could build the car on, that was just to get you moving in the right direction.
