Dumb question......but what size is the oil return hose? I thought it was 5/8"......but when I was in Cali, I stopped by the shop where I use to get my steel braided lines made up, and the 5/8" steel braid hose they had looked too small. The inside diameter was about the size of my pinky. Does the steel braid line measure different than regular rubber hose? If so, what size do I need in for steel braid line? Also, I'm planning to use regular hose clamps instead of AN fittingsThanks

The barbs are 5/8" OD (outside Diameter) which means the hose have to be 5/8 ID (inside Diameter)

If I remember correctly a 5/8 ID SS line is a -10AN hose and those are huge.

Larger than a 5/8" rubber hose? What are people doing when they use SS lines for their oil return? Cutting off the barb on the oil pan/ oil return flange, and using AN fittings? If so, what sizes?

yes the outside diameter of a 10AN line are quite large. Usually when people use SS fittings they cut off the bung and weld on a AN bung. When I see people do them use 10AN size. You want the oil to move freely.
