what's the ideal oil pressure for a turbo? is there oil pumps that are preset or would i have to use a restrictor valve on the feed line? it's gonna be a rear mounted turbo so would tapping into the oil pan or a separate oil container just for the tubo be better? if i mounted the oil container in the trunk and made the setup gravity fed with a pump on the return line would that work good? would i need to worry about not enough oil going down to the blower?

i can get a free turbo with everything there but it would be off a semi's cat motor with a twin turbo setup - single spools up to about 15psi or so. but i wonder if the tiny car exhaust would be able to move the turbine that's originally fed by 4" exhaust piping. anybody know?

i know, a lot of questions

Find out more about the turbo and always run a restrictor on the oil feed line.

well i talked to the guys at my company truck shop and i don't think that big turbo will work right because it's fed from a 5 or 6" exhaust so i'll get a blower off ebay - cheap ftw.

as for the oil supply would i still need a restrictor on a gravity fed system?

How would you do a gravity feed? And how cheap are you trying to get a blower for? I mean if you are going to s/c you arent going to be able to do it for less than 1500 to be honest.

i thought about s/c but then figured it would be cheaper to do a remote turbo. and since it's in the rear get a gallon can in the trunk with one line going down to the turbo - gravity - and the second line would have the pump on it to scavenge the oil, push it through a cooler and back into the tank.

i know i'm being difficult but i'm not sure about tapping into the engine's oil sending unit.

^^^did some searching and now i know what a sandwich plate's for...i guess my supply problem is solved except...how much oil psi should a turbo get? is 40-60 ok or below 40?

do i have to run a wastegate or would the bov handle releasing the extra boost on it's own? i'm looking for the whistling most of TD trucks have - constant like they didn't have a WG installed. also wouldn't that make boost constantly available without the turbo having to spool back up again?

Even in a remote setup you are still going to have to feed the turbo and not by gravity. You are going to have to run a wastegate unless you just want to blow your motor and you will need a blow off, recirc valve.
