hey i got a 91 240 fastback and my dad works for a junkyard. So im gonna try and cheap out and get a used stock turbo from there. they have numerouse amounts from dodge daytona's and misc chryslers and im wondering what else i would need to make one of these work on my car? since they are both off of 4-cylinder cars im wondering if i can just take off the whole exhaust manifold off and "rig" it to my car? or would i have to fabricate one from scratch? and a friend of mine has a greddy turbo on his civic and the ones out of the chryslers are larger then the greddy turbo on the civic. now im not an expert on turbos but doesnt bigger mean better?can anyone tell me what i would need and how hard it would be to make this turbo work on my car? and would it be worth it? or should i just fork out the $2000 grand for an aftermarket turbo? also does anyone know what kind of turbos come on an early(86ish) 300zx's? cuz they also have one of them. and which turbo should i get or should i just get which ever ones biggest? how can i tell which ones better?

dude...search

the turbos from those chrystlers are a decent looking from the outside, but ive never seen the wheels

no, bigger isnt always better. depends on a lot of things.civic = 1.6 you = 2.4

and you have to remember, the turbo itself is just one small part of a turbo setup

Do some research, learn to read a compressor map, and remember that turbocharging is more than just a turbo and manifold. Any turbo will work for your car, depending of what your goals are. How much power do you want? How much $$$ do you want to spend? These two are almost always directly related. Another thing to consider, factory turbos are usually under-sized, sacrificing power for driveability. For example, a Dodge Daytona makes ~220 hp, which is as high as you would want to go, maybe 250 hp at the most, that's flywheel hp by the way.

A used turbo would need to be rebuilt, so that could add to your cost, maybe you could spend a bit more cash and get a turbo more suitable for the KA.

yeah thats the thing im not looking to spend anything cuz im getting all the stuff for free i just need to know what all to take off the chrysler engine. as of now i got the turbo off and i got an intercooler out of an awd turbo talon. i got a boost gauge out of an izuzu truck. the turbo manifold off the LeBaron may fit on my car im gonna try it on next weekend. and i tryed to search i couldnt find the answers i needed though.so now all i need is all the duct work for it and a blowoff valve? and i may still need to fabricate an exhaust manifold but that shouldnt be a problem. after that what else would i need?
