Turbo Noise Please Help

I have had my SR20 Swap for about a month now and two days after i did it i started to here the really loud high pitch scream when ever i was in boost. Some of my friends told me it was the turbo so just this past weekend i purchased one used from a guy that was upgrading his. The new turbo had Minimum shaft play and spun freely it was pretty much in really good condition. Well i installed it yesturday got the car back on the road and to my suprise the scream was still there.

Today i looked at the turbo and it in good condition as well i even had a few other people looked at it and they told me the same thing.

I still have this Really Loud High Pitch Scream when im in boost. the car boost fine and does not smoke at all its runing stock boost right now.

Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem with my car?

im running a HKS SSBOV we unhooked it and the noise is still there. It will not make the noise unless the turbo is under load (the car is moving down the road). if ijust rev it sitting still it does not make the noise. i have run out of ideas of what it could be. We thought that we narrowed it down to the turbo but this one makes the same noise.

Im going to try to change some of the gaskets to see if i have an air leak that way and if that is the problem.

Who knows im stuck.

Check all you couplers, if you havent already. I had one once that was just loose enough to stay on there but made a high pitch wine in boost.

Would this also cause a skip when the engine is at idle? also when im driving at a constant speed the car has a surge to it like a bad fuel pump but is not. This engine is driving me crazy.

Okay let me add this all these problems are minor and do not really effect the performance or the drivability of the car. They are just anoying and PISS ME OFF

Okay i have one problem fixed it was the fuel pump. THe guy at the auto parts store gave me the wrong resistance levels to check the fuel pump. So one gone but i still have the screaming noise.

situations like this call for a sound clip brother. It's hard to diagnose a screaming sound when under boost unless it is the turbo itself screaming...

What is the chance of the second turbo having the same problem as the first turbo? THe on that i put on to replace the original had less shaft play and was alot cleaner.(like that has anything to do with it.)

Can you get a sound clip of what it is? Is it like a pshhh? woah hard to replicate without sound clips...is it like air being discharged? Not BOV sounding but more like a constant pshhh sound of air being discharged? sound clip needed man

OK............For those that wanted to know what the problem was i fixed it. It was the TPS sensor. i have a friend that had the same problem and he unpluged his and the prblem went away so i unpluged mine and the problems gone too.

It doesnt run rich any more i have no weird noise from the turbo and it boosts again. any one else had this problem with the TPS.

Turbos make that high pitched whistle when they spool up. If you go to Multimedia section of this site and download some videos of turboed cars then you will hear it as well.

Just like superchargers have its distinct whine, turbos have its own whistle as well.
