I changed my boost gauge from a crappy Megan one to an Autometer and i noticed a drop in Vaccum from 20 to 16. However at the same time i noticed the turbo loose from the manifold. Would that space in between the Turbo and the Manifold cause the gauge to read low vaccum or is it a boost leak some where else in the system?

Bump-no one knows if an after turbo boost leak will effect a boost gauge reading.

where did you tap into for your boost reading?

being that its on the exhaust side and not intake i dnt think itd measure as a loss in vaccum. but it could i guess cause compressor isnt spinning as fast

Back of the manifold

Ok well alittle hard work and i answered my own question. This past weekend i changed every single vaccum hose nissan but on the bastard as well as properly remounted the turbo to the manifold. And my boost gauge is still reading low (15-16 at idle) However the car has significantly increased in pull and is much smoother as the revs increase. Im still pretty stumped about why the gauge is still reading low but i still need to check the boost gauge line and if that doesn't do it i will make a leak tester but at least the hard **** is done.

If it runs fine, I would just think it's a difference in the guages.

Mine reads about that (15-16) when at idle... but if i'm in motion and coasting it will vac to about 20-21.

my jetta, also 1.8t, vacs about the same between idle and while in motion in neutral.

Thats exactly the same as mine. But i have to agree that it might be the difference in gauges.
