I am currently shopping for a turbo manifold for a DE and i am leaning towards a cast manifold such as the Revhard. it states that they can be mounted either top or bottom mount. has anyone bottom mounted one, and have pictures? also if it is bottom mounted will that help with the BMC issues? i am swapping a DE into '90 coupe non-ABS.I want to use a T3/T4 turbo with that manifold. thanks

The RevHard can be used as a top or bottom mount. IIRC, the ports dont exactly line up when used as a bottom mount, so its recommended that you 'port match' the manifold.

I just went out and test fitted the rev hard as a bottom mount, and all the ports match up perfectly...

Well i guess that is good to know that the ports match up. i just wonder has anyone actually mounted it this way? and if so do they have pictures? i know a top mount would be infinitely simpler but it is between buying a revhard or going with a SSAC manifold. i am not out to spend over $400. any suggestions would be nice.

i'll sell my revhard replica for 200+shipping if you're interested. it's exactly the same but it doesn't have the revhard stamp on the runner.

Revhard bottom mounted:

Not in car, but you get the idea...

A/C and PS will definatly get in the way... Topmount for ease of install...

Does the front housing fit with the manifold like that next to the block. Maybe with some minor trimming...... hmmmm.... Show a pic with the rest of the turbo please dude!

Just so you guys are aware, on a 240sx, A T3 Turbine or a tangential T4 will place the turbo closer to the engine block. Probably not a good idea.

If anyone in socal wants to play around with fitment though, I have an old cracked revhard that you can pick-up from me. I would not recommend ever trying to repair it for use as it cracked after already having been repaired once and the crack runs from the collector area all the way through to the wastegate flange. It should work fine for test fitment purposes though.

aren't most bottom mount turbo engines close to the block? Like a SR with a t28.. isn't that going to be really close?

It would depend on which way you have it turned. And being close isn't n issue. If the motor or any accessories get in the way, you certainly will have issues. I was kinda rusihing through my lasy post. I should have been more clear.

ahh.. well, i'm not going to be running A/C or P/S on my s13, so it shouldn't be a problem.. I have the Revhard manifold already, and i'm ordering the GT32 soon.. so we'll see which way fits better.
