Turbo makes no boost. Farewell ceramic blades. Can I still drive it to work?

I still need to get to work, will having a turbo that makes no boost damage anything?

Car seems to run fine otherwise. No leaks, idles good. no stumbling under acceration.

Thanks!

i wouldnt as the shaft could move and the compressor could gernade next, well assuming the turbine blew up that is.

-1 on the "yes", I clicked the wrong one. If you had a pipe made to bolt between the manifold and the downpipe and pull the munched turbo ok but the busted turbo can still throw debris into your engine if you run it like that. You have probably already sucked up some junk if the exhuast whell shattered so bad the compressor wheel crashed into it's housing. Not worth the risk. A Z31 VG30ET turbo is a good low-buck replacement.

Thats what I needed to know. Im pretty sure the exhaust side is what went. The exhaust is much louder and I dont hear any turbo wine at all.

Well, I have had the same thing happen when my turbine ate $hit. It went completely through my exhaust. I can see peices of it in my canister. Billow of smoke came out as well! I wouldnt drive it.

Fortunately I have a 300zx I can drive. Now I need to know what turbo to get. hehe

I cant decide on getting something that is close to stock so I can get back on the road quickly, or to upgrade fuel injectors and get a powerfc and throw something with a little more umph into the mix. My Z had 280rwhp last time I dynod. I would love to have that from my rb20det. I don't want much turbo lag though.

Finding one is another story

Plus I'm not sure I want a used turbo.

Right now I'm leaning towards the hks2530. Should spool nice.

as long as there is no crap about to blow into the engine you should be fine. if its an rb25 then its got 9:1 compression and should do ok as a n/a motor for a while, i wouldnt go out and try to drift it or anything.

Hey Rob

There are a few Z31 Turbos at Cap City Imports on South Congress.

Get that thing running again so I can punish it with my SR.
