I just blew up my T25. Is it because I used a little seafoam in the oil about 300 miles before I did a oil change? Someone told me that if you use any additives, that it can make the seal's go bad on the turbo. But the turbo blew after I did a fresh oil change to 15 w 50 Mobil 1?

Also with the mods I have, and considering that I use the car as a daily driver how much boost is safe to run on a normal basis?

I would run stock boost, but It just doesnt have the pep that I like when I ran it boosted. What is a safe 24/7 boost level for this turbo to run at without killing the turbo?

Brad (unfrgivn on NICO) has been running his swap at 14psi since we did it last summer. That's about 15K miles on it, and we beat the hell out of his car any chance we get :)

I highly doubt that seafoam (or any other oil additives) killed off the turbo seals. 3000gt/Stealth guys use it all the time to get rid of the lifter tick which those cars are prone to and none of the turbo guys have ever lost a turbo due to it.

i've been running 14 PSI on my turbo since last october. The thrust bearing did fail on me, but that was due to age. The importer said the motor only had around 40,000 miles on it, but the condition of the engine and its accessories reads otherwise. My mechanic friend, Jay, and I are fairly convinced it was closer to 65,000-75,000. But I put a good 12k miles on it with the turbo sitting at 14 psi. And I romp it quite often, and auto cross with it.

This doesn't really offer an answer to the T25's life expectancy, but I've heard of volvo turbos reaching well into the deep 100,000s. Like near 150,000 miles. And these were the old 240 turbo volvos that were running garrett turbos.

Another thing to remember is that these motors ended up in junk yards for reasons. And not all of them were due to crashing

thank you for your insight guys :) I beileve that my Manual boost controller was really ineffective and I did notice boost to spike at 4th and 5th gear when I turned it up to about 15. I did run 14psi on the regular with no problems beforehand. When I install the replacement turbo, I will make sure to get a profec B Spec II. What do you guys think about that BC? And what do you think about the dual piped WG and Exhaust o2 collector piping from hks or something like that. Is it worth the 70$ that i can get it for?

I love the Profec B. I ran one on my old galant vr-4. I use a blitz sbc-id now, and once I get my AEM all setup this weekend I'll probably switch over to having the AEM control boost.

As for the hks style o2 housing, just know they weren't meant for US market cars. It's a good idea to have, but you'll have to hammer the hell out of the smaller exhaust tube (from the wastegate door) in order to get it to clear the steering shaft.
