ok, iv decided to purchase a turbo kit in a year or so instead of doing the SR20 swap. What different kits are out there? iv only seen one by Nusports i think for the KA. In a recent issue of Sport Compact Car, there was a list of turbo kits for all different imports. Among them, were 3 different ones for the 240sx, however they were for 1995 and up. But how is the kit different from say a 1993 if they both have the KA24DE?? Is there something different between the different years or can you use the kit on earlier DOHC KA's?

the Nsport kit can be used for the S13 and S14. you just need to tell them what type of car you have when you order.

it takes a while for Nsport to get you're kit to you....almost 5 months for me

Nsport makes a quality kit, it took 3 months to get mine, but well worth the wait. If anything is on backorder, you might wanna tell em to leave those out (such as the deltagate, etc) and get soemthing else (such as a Tial wastegate). Also don't forget the Fmax kit, which is also a good, quality kit.

You guys ever actually used the search button?

It is a pain in the butt. You get a couple hundred responses and have to sort through them to find what you need. I was going back to find a post I had made to get the info for another poster and it took my nearly 40 minutes to find it.

I'm very happy with my N-sport kit also. It was a bit of a wait to get it but well worth it. Alex at N-sport is very helpful with any questions that you would have about his kit.

CARB is only for california

it will pass emissions if you properly tune it...

advance timing, run minimum boost, lean out fuel...

you can use the search button with some degree of skill. if you remembered the name of the thread you can search by that only. The paramaters are not as advanced as i would like, but you can find it. Its when people search for one word like "turbo" you are going to get a lot of irrelevent posts.

Your best bet is to find out from Alex @ Nsport which parts are on backorder.... If it is anything turbonetics, it could be a few weeks.

sounds like a great way to blow up an engine.

NEVER advance timing on a boosted motor. NEVER lean out a boosted motor. those two things are the main thing that blow out turbo engines.

if they do visual tests, a turbo will definately fail you. if theres no visual, remove the FMU and put on the stock intake.. just have the turbo blow air to the ground till smog testing is over.. it'll be slow, but you'll pass :)

Drive very carefully there if you do that though. That's a good way to overspin a turbo. If it doesn't get the boost signal from the vacuum line that it needs it will just keep spinning.

the xs kit and fmax kits are not for the s-13 though. but does it make a difference? both a 93 240 and a 95 240 share the same ka24de engine?

Best way I've found to pass emmisions back in the states up in Mass was to change my plugs, check all vacuum lines, I always keep my O2 sensor fairly new anyway, I change at a minimum of once a year, run a good tank of gas.

Now if you've got your car tuned up for boost, meaning you've altered all the fuel/timing maps, then you might need to adjust the maps to run leaner. A rich motor will have a harder time passing.

You won't need to worry about coming on boost anyway unless your car is on a dyno machine and a load is put on the engine. Most tests are done with the vehicle in park/neutral and revved to 2500-3500 rpm.

Not in chicago, Car is on the rollers. They run you up to sixty mph. Check your cold start and deacelleration numbers. NOt as easy to pass, but $50 does help.

holy effin 50zillion year old thread batman!

I started reading through this and got REALLY confused when someone said they thought the greddy kit was supposed to come out this summer. I was about to post that it HAS BEEN OUT for a long time... then I got smart and looked at the date. all i can say is, wow

but on topic... emission tests are BS... dyno emission tests are more BS. I think im gonna move to S.C. where they don't do any of that mess. There is no way my car could make more pollution than the freakin coal power plant down the road. gimme a break
