I'm planing on starting a SOHC ka24e-t project. I own a 1990 240sx (with only 50k). I plan on getting my manifold from realnissan.com. I plan on using a exturnal waste gate w/ a TO4 turbo, any suggestions for a good deal on a TO4 turbo??? Of couse I plan on a intercooler and a BOV. But I need some help with my set up. First off where do I put the MAF??? I will have to past emissions on this so what I would like to do is to run SDS supplementary injectors once the bost hits 2-4 psi (were ever the stock injectors can't handle the boost) this way I can just remove the intercooler pipe and add a air filter and the car will be back down to stock emission. Anyway my question is with a the supplementary injectors be all I need in the way of engine managmet??? I'm only planing 5psi boost for everyday and 7 psi for racing (solo II and drag). I'm not sure if I need so ignition set up or not. OR should I just go with SDS stand alone??? I have hear thoses are "fool proof" and I don't want to screw anything up. The supplementary injectors would be cheaper. Sorry for the long post and if any comment or suggestion please post. Thanks.

T04B' are cheap but a little outdated, T04E are more expensive but also better. Extra injectors sounds a little ghetto if you ask me, but it's just me talking. I would go with upgraded injectors, 370cc should be fine for 7psi, and you can swap the stock ones at emissions time. Don't quote me, but you would need some kind of fuel management if you add or upgrade your injectors, like an AFC or a reprogrammed ECU. Of course stand-alone management would be the best choice in any case, but also the most expensive. The MAF goes BEFORE the turbo.

Thanks, I'm really happy I got an answer to the MAF question. Is all I need to run 370cc injectors the AFC or do I have to get a reprogram? If all I need to run in the way of fuel is the AFC, 370cc injectors, and fuel pump I will do that. If i do that though Do i need to do anything else in the way of electronics. Like do I need control of the timming? basically I'm asking if all I run is the AFC, 370cc injectors, and fuel pump and the turbo stuff (boost contoler, waste gate, etc.) will I be ok?

p.s. Know were I could get a TO4?

the 370cc injectors that fit would be from a CA18DET, I've got a set for sale, and you can run the MAF after the turbo, it actually runs better that way (that's what I'm doing).

Then you'd need either an Emanage or SAFC (I prefer the HKS SAFR over the AFC but that's just me).

the de and the e is from the same family the only major difference is that one is a single cam. the ka24e head is has the design of the past but it is able to build alot of horse power. we are in the year 2002 technology is advanceing "twin cam".you would like to see 400 and up on a stock ka :D i could send you video tape of the dyno run with dyno sheets and puctures of the moto in the building process. you know what checkout this web sight http://www.Back-yard-production.com my car is there. :icesangel

michael,

either you are a nissan geniusor you are spreading misinformation

1. 400 "dyno" on stock internal? yes it's posible but you won't have an engine to go home with....and we all know how "dyno's" tell nothing but the truth...don't we?

s13ka24e,

let's assume you're goin to run 7 psi and occasionally turn it up to at most 9 psi, then use:

-starion FMIC for <$200 any junk yard or even ebay

-new walbro 255lph fuel pump ~$109 the last time i check so search around

-custom exhaust - just buy the damn apexi N1 for $450 and save yourself the trouble...it's a good buy and you'll love it...however if you MUST be shavy...then get a muffler shop to do it for you...should be 200 with all the piping+exhaust (make sure it's a str8 thru canister of at least 2.5 inner diameter)

-tial 35mm wg is around 230 shipped...very nice unit...but for lower boost you could also use Deltagate for around <$150 shipped to save some money...this is the wg most companies use for their standard setup

-manual boost controller $8 - $50 depending on what you want...the $8 one you buy parts from a hardware store and build it...dont ask me how to build it...search around

the rest of the parts you listed sounds alrightagain this is a set up to run low boost of 7-9 psi onlyif you want to boost anymore than thatstart saving for a rebuild with forged internals

hope that helps-demitri

there is nothing wrong with the sohc motor...in fact if you have worked on both of them,.....the sohc is much more friendly than the dohc...and IMO more reliable..and lighter weight.......plus once you port and do some head work to the sohc...it can out flow the dohc in stock form easy....

i have been working on the sohc turbo motor for 2 years now...and it still amazes me how simple it is....

demitri -starion FMIC for <$200 any junk yard or even ebay

These sound good

custom exhaust - friend owns a muffler shop, while there I will get my i/c piping done and down pipe.

-tial 35mm wg is around 230 shipped...very nice unit

That sounds good too.

-manual boost controller- i will probably just buy one for $50 bucks, i was thinking they were a 100, but whatever.

michael walters I am not a genius i jus know what is needed to make the engin stay together FUEL AND TIMING REMEMBER THIS DO NOT FOR GET IT

I have planned dyno time at a local shop where we are going to tune my fuel and timing.

the SR20DET injectors would not fit a KA24E and the CA18DET injectors wouldn't fit a KA24DE just to clear that up (difference between topfeed and sidefeed).
