I've been doing a lot of reading and I am very interested in turboing my KA. I am rebuilding the motor from the bottom up this winter, I'm going to go the whole 9 yards. Since I plan to turbo the motor, what modifications should be made while I have then engine out and apart? New pistons? Also, I'm not going to ask any of you to type this out, but if you feel like it that would be great. Does anybody have a complete turbo kit list, I mean, exactly what parts will I need. I have been reading and have decided on the following:

a t3/t4 turbomanifoldlarger injectors (whats a good size)?a new fuel rail?fuel management"intakedownpipe?wastegate (i understand some turbos are internally wastegated)fmicbovfuel pump

My car is a '90 s13 with the KA-E motor. I'm looking for around 250 hp, anymore is just overkill for me. If any of you have any suggestions on which turbo, manifold, etc. to get, please, your 2 cents is highly valued. I want to be able to gradually buy the parts for the build ,then one day magically buy the last part, like the last piece to a giant puzzle. Thanks guys.

Rich

and p.s. what do yall make of these turbo kits on ebay for like 700 bux, first of all, ebay scares the hell out of me when you deal with stuff like this, but I wonder if anyone out there actually purchased and installed one of these things, and didnt have it crap out on em in like 2 months.

This forum has a ka-t section.... search over there and you will find all the info you need and more.

250hp isnt that much, in most cases a stock ka24de (the duel over head cam engine) will be able to handel that

Heres a list for ya. I wrote this as I was learning about turbing the KA.

turboturbo exhaust manifoldwastegate (if turbo doesnt have internal wastegate swing valve housing)

downpipe (connects turbo outlet to cat/test pipe)-turbo outlet flange-piping-fittings (O2, wideband O2, EGT)-wastegate return pipe (from wastegate outlet to downpipe)--external wastegate onlytest pipe (takes place of cat, connects downpipe to catback exhaust)catback exhaust (mandrel bent)-piping-muffler

larger injectorshigh flow fuel pumpfuel management (piggyback, retuned ECU [JWT, Enthalpy, Bikirom])ignition management (timing retard control)--over 8 psi

intercooler (front mount)-IC piping (mandrel bent)-silicon hose couplers and transitions

BOV (with flange of same material as IC piping)

oil supply kit-oil pan bung-braided oil lines-oil line fittings-'T' fittings

water/coolant supply kit--watercooled turbo only

gauges-boost-oil pressure-oil temp-water temp-EGT

intake piping (mandrel bent)cone filter

gaskets-exhaust manifold-turbo flange-wastegate

vacuum hoses (silicone or rubber)-'T' fittings

clutchflywheel

Be sure to overbuild your setup so you can turn up the boost WHEN you get the itch. 550cc injectors should be good for nearly 350whp so I'd suggest those. Deatschwerks.com sells hi flow top feed injectors that fit into your existing rail.

Your stock MAF cant read more than 250whp worth of air, so look into the Maxima (N60) or 300ZX (N62) MAF.

You dont need forged internals for 250-350whp, better if youre rebuilding anyway, it might be worth the extra cost. Detonation is the turbo motor's worst enemy. So read up on what it is and how to avoid it.

Our sponsor turbo240.com should be releasing a kit soon, so keep an eye out for that. In the mean time, Ive heard great things about JGS's kits and service http://www.jgsturbo.com .

I learned 99% of what I know from NICO. Granted I still dont have a turbo KA, but these guys are the best...

JGS has a turbo kit for the KA24E motor. Likely to be adequate for your needs.

you say save myself a grand and avoid the kits, you mean, but all the parts individually? thats whay i would prefer to do, i can afford to drop a few hundred bucks here and there and gradually build up my turbo kit, but dropping 3 grand all at once is harsh.

just a sggestion on intercoolers...most big diesel trucks use massive intercoolers, or even the dodge cummins or ford powerstroke or the duramax...all these trucks are in junkyards, and the likelihood of a massive intercooler for used prices are very high, then get that ***** custom fit to yor car and reap the benefits! just my .02
