i've been seeing alot of turbo KA's lately, and they seem to have pretty good power. but i wouldn't need all that much. so which would be cheaper, not including installation. turbo my KA24DE, or try and get a s13 red top SR20DET? the SR would be all the power i need stock. i might put a FMIC, but that would be it. i know i could run low boost and everything w/ the KA-T, but i would have to get my engine rebuilt (115k miles as of now). that ain't cheap. i don't know, i think i would rather try and get the SR, but i've heard horror stories of how its hard getting the power steering lines and the AC lines re-routed or whatever. i don't know.....just let me know what u think.turbo KA, or redtop SR20???

Thats mostly on a SOHC S13 swap. : )

I would actually suggest that if you don't want to do any modifications, that you get a S14 SR20. You'd have 230 flywheel horsepower AND its a lot more of a direct swap than the S13 => S14 which can be a pain. I wouldn't vote for either. : ) I'd say spend the extra 1000 to get the S14, and save yourself some pain in wiring everything. Good Luck!

hmm, thats not a bad idea. but dang, another thousand bucks. i don't know if i can wait that long. lol that is a good idea tho. i didn't know that the s14 sr20 was a more direct swap than the s13. is it still relatively hard to re-route wiring and AC and power steering hoses?

You don't have to reroute unless you have a SOHC KA. I guess I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure your 95 comes with a KA24DE. : )

Is the S14 SR harder to swap into an s13 then?

the s14 sounds' like the SR for me, i don't want to be doing any more mods after i get it in (because then i would be broke) but this whole sr thing is way off in the future, i make peanuts for money

i'm with skydragoness, once i get it in, i'm not doing anything else to it. well, maybe a FMIC just to let people know i mean business. :) i didn't know the wiring and stuff didn't have to re-routed if you didn't have a SOHC. and yes my '95 has a KA-DE:rolleyes but that gives me alot better feeling about it, since i wouldn't have to re-route wires and hoses and stuff. sweet:ylsuper

Well, some wires will need to be extended because you have a LHD car, but its not the same as the SOHC. : )

I heard from people that the Redtops are better motors to build. I forgot what they said exactly, but it was something like...because it has a high intake port or something like dat. If someone has more info on it that would be phat. Which motor has better aftermarket products...S13 redtop vs. S14 SRs.

They both have pretty much the same aftermarket. The redtop is generally considered better to build, because that 1000 dollars that you didn't spend on an engine that you're going to tear most of the stuff off of ANYWAYS will go a long way towards aftermarket. : ) The S13 is High Port, and the S14 is Low Port. : )

yea, once i get the engine in there i'm not gonna be doing anything to it, so i might as well save another couple a months or sumthing and get the extra thou, and have more power and a newer engine.

If you know the right people in the right places, then alot of things can be done for a little bit of money. I'd rather not say what i have come across on my modifiy 240 journey because either no one will believe me or everyone will hate me.:D

i'm almost leaning towards the turbo KA now. i can't make my mind up. i mean if sumthin screws up on the SR, parts would be a B**** to get. as for the KA, i've heard that i wouldn't have to rebuild my motor, as long as i don't boost to much. jeez, i am just in a delima:confused:
