ok everything is gravy. take my s13 out for a spin. get to stop sign pull away, build 10\12 psi i cant tell my gauge reads bar. get to about 65 mph let off then i go to acellerate again and this time 0 psi ????? car runs perfect but will not build any boost. my turbo is a brand new t28 maybe 35 miles on it from me. i've unhooked my piping and the turbo pushes air but it doesn't seem like much. oh and now it smokes it didn't before. i hope this turbo isn't fried

I've never heard of a turbo actually seizing up and not making boost before. Does it feel like the turbo isn't making any boost, or did the gauge just say that.

check your wastegate actuator. If the arm fell off the wastegate will be open all the time and you might be lucky to build 2-3 psi at redline.

did yopu put back the oil restrictor, you may have blown out teh seals with too much oil pressure.. either that or you oil line might be clocked causing it to seize??

in any case, a new T28 - i would send that sucker right back where it came from for a replacement

even if he blew the oil seals he should be seeing some pressure... I'd defintely check the wastegate for problems. The smoking thing sounds like it could be the seals though.

Here is a lesson for all of you....

NEVER buy a used/rebuilt turbo. The only way I would buy a rebuilt turbo is if it was by a reputable turbocharger company such as Forced Performance. I like the ones that say they are selling rebuilt ball-bearing turbos. As far as I know, you cannot rebuild those....the whole CHRA needs to be replaced.

--Learn from my mistake--On my last car ('95 turbo Eclipse) I went through FOUR used TD05-14b turbo's before I said **** it and got a brand new 16G. The 14b's I got for around $100 each. Factor in the downtime of the car to swap it, and the synthetic oil change I had to do everytime and you are looking at around $520. The EVO3 16G I bought was $569 shipped brand new with all the gaskets and washers I needed. Save yourself the hassle and save up and buy a NEW turbo. You won't regret it.

There is SOME rebuilding that can be done to a BB turbo, but very little. I had my S14 turbo rebuilt, and all they really did was replace some seals. The thing that doesn't normally happen is the balancing of the shaft after the rebuild. I called A LOT of places before I found someplace that did it correctly. I haven't had any problems with it so far. (it's got about 300 miles on it)
