Turbo Intercooler

I was wondering if this intercooler kit would be worth getting for my 240.

I've been looking at going turbo for a while and figured i'd start getting my parts so that I can put things on together. I'm wanting to put a greddy turbo kit on it and I was wondering what all i would need to get in order to go turbo. I KNOW about the KA-T forum, but every time i post something there it just sits there like nobody checks there anymore. To answer some of the questoins that would be asked, i'm wanting to go for more than 300hp and i was just wanting a list of the first things i'm gonna need to get. When my taxes come back i'm gonna have bout 3g or more to spend so i just need some help from someone who has been where I'm at now.

I Have a full 3" HKS catback exhaust kit, cold air intake, and 10.2mm plug wires. And I'll just say it before anybody else, the intake and plugs dont mean crap, i'm just listin what it go ok.

i wouldnt get the intercooler from ebay, i would get a greddy one. but the piping who cares get that from ebay, theres no point in paying more for piping.

cxracing.com has pretty good inter coolers a lot of people use them i have one but its not installed yet the welds are good and the clamps are good grade t clamps . If your going to turbo your ka forged pistons rods , performance rod bearings ,main bearing . In other words build the bottom end to take the abuse .you will need to tap the oil pan for your return line and search for it .Somebody im sure has made a list or asked this question before ..

egay kits works, im using a cxr intercoole with custom pipes.

that kit your looking at requires your to run a t25/28 setup and move your battery to the trunk. other wise then that it should fit up ok , ive used 2 of those kits will setting up 2 ka-t s13.

eBay intercoolers are win. Obviously a Greddy one would be better, but the difference is minimal. Get the eBay one and use the saved money on more important pieces of a turbo kit (Turbo, or most important fuel system and tuning)

Ok, thats what i figured. My brother has an ebay kit on his 92 hatch, all except for the flex downpipe, and garrett gt28 turbo. I also got a quick question about a problem i've been having, My car will stall out whenever i come to a stop if i dont keep the throttle up, and i don't think its the timing cause when it idles it stays steady at 650 rpms. It kinda rocks like a v8 would at idle. I was thinking that it may be my fuel pump, but does anybody have any other thoughts or personal experience?

you still have to be careful buying piping as well. stay away from cast aluminum. i rock an ebay setup. the ic is great, but the 2 lower pipes, being they are cast, are very porous, which caused for boost leaks. so i had test and finding them using soapy water.

The difference is actually noticeable when comparing an eBay intercooler to a Greddy, Blitz, or HKS intercooler. It is not a tragedy to cheap out on intercoolers, but if you can afford a name brand, it can be better in the long run.

eBay intercoolers generally have their fins more spaced apart, which is not as efficient. If you look closely at a Greddy, Blitz, or HKS intercooler, their fins are much more close and will provide better cooling.

Same thing goes for a CX Racing radiator versus a Koyo radiator.

If your motor is rocking at idle it very well could be missing a cylinder. Check you spark plugs for excess gas or other findings. My E motor only runs on 3 our of 4 cylinders and rocks too.

Ok, but do you have any idea as to why it shuts off when i come to a stop or if I'm drivin down the road and take it out of gear?

When i got my first 240 it had a turbo and i knew nothing about cars, but the guy told me that it was an "open BOV" setup and if i was at higher RPM's (about 3K) and just let it out of gear, it would stall. I had to keep it in gear until i slowed right down. Not sure how to fix it, check the KA-T section maybe?

i would have to agree with teddy. I am rocking a CX Racing radiator and intercooler. Both are temporary solutions for the short run, but once I actually start putting down some serious power (I've got an RB25), I will be switching over to a Greddy Intake manifold, Greddy Intercooler, and Koyo Radiator and will hopefully be able to fit my FAL dual e-fans.

But for now, in stock trim on my RB25, the CXRacing FMIC and CXRacing radiator are a better improvement over a stock rb25 SMIC and oem KA Radiator.

try them if your lucky they might still have some $494 for an f mic is pretty good for a greedy even tho it is a cheapo 1 its still better then that ebay 1.

I'll agree with you on the intercooler, but the rads seem pretty damn close with their fins. May or may not be correct but I think the difference more has to do with the number of cores. I know Greddy does a 3 core rad.
