Okay, so my friend figured he'd turn his pos Greddy kit for his dohc into something more...powerful and useable, has all these mods:

JWT tuned ecu ( ecu is HT model )Catless exhaustZ32 MAFgreddy top feed fuel rail, FMIC, 20G turbo550cc rc engineering injectorsETD log manifoldtial 38mm wastegate re-routed to downpipeturbo xs externally vented bovwalbro 255blitz r-vit to tell timing and maf voltagengk spark plugs 1 step colder gapped at .28

Car has all the emissions on it hooked up (minus cat)

Anyways, we finally figured out all the issues we ran into, but now if you let the car get to operating tempurature and free rev to about 3k or just drive it around a little bit and come to a stop the idle with stumble and fluxuate come close to dying and on occasion die.

Just tonight we cleaned out the IACV with intake cleaner to see if that was the issue, but it wasn't if anyone can help we'd greatly appreciate it.

The BOV needs to be vented to return not the atmosphere.

Try the HKS - EIDS (Electronic Idling Stabilizer), Type H-1, for Nissan & Subaru...I found it at optauto.com>forced induction>bov>nissan

Interesting...I didn't think the bov mattered, since when he had the stock greddy kit installed (which didn't come with a bov) when he installed the bov it didn't affect anything. Also doesn't the bov only affect the car between shifts or whenever it releases pressure and vents? This problem even occurs under no boost revving it up to 3k and letting off. =/

And I'll look into that unit.

any other suggestions?

Thanks

Simple to troubleshoot. Disconnect the vacuum from the BOV and cap it if you can. Then see if the problem still occurs.

We've already tried that. One of our friends happened to hook the bov up to an emissions vacuum line, but I fixed that and hooked it up correctly. When it was hooked up to the emissions line it was getting pretty much 0psi since it didn't blow off even under some throttle. Instead we got wastegate noise and plenty of compressor surge. Now that I've hooked it up right we get compressor surge, wastegate noise, and bov noise. (Keep in mind we're boosting like 3 psi or so and keepin it under 4500rpm since we have the safc2 set at 11% increase in fuel and aren't going to start tuning it out a bit until we get the idle fixed.

Why are you adding fuel with the safc when the ecu is tuned??? Could be your problem right there .... you let off car dumps extra fuel not needed so it stumbles.... plugs are probably fouling out too. your running bkr6e's? or bkr6e-11?

No we had initially tried running just the tuned ecu, but when it dropped off on idle it would die. He messed around and found that +11% fuel would keep the engine from dying after letoff on most occasions. Without the extra fuel the car would usually die.

Well you need to find out what is wrong. ECU tune or vacuum or somehtign is wrong. Which therefore we can't diagnois. A tuned ecu should at least give you perfect idle and driveable conditions. find out what is wrong whether it's the ecu or vacuum leak bad sensor etc. You found a way to band-aid your problem not fix the issue at hand. Get a wideband. what is your base timing at?

Will do. I'm personally going to replace all of his vacuum lines on Monday...then we should see what's up.
