Setup: 97 ka24det, stock block, AEM EMS, AEM 3.5 bar map, t3/t4 turbonetics turbo, xcessive intake manifold, ssautochrome exhaust manifold, tial wastegate, greddy front mount, AMS fuel kit with 50lb injectors, fuel pressure is set at 43 psi., Walbro 255.

After installing all turbo material, I had some issues with my CAS not syncing with my ems. After doing an extensive search on my factory harness to find nothing, I replaced it with a 96 obd2 harness from a local junkyard. The new harness fixed the issue, and I even got a few back fires. I then rerouted the wiring below the intake manifold ( to clean up the mess) and everytime I crank, I have 0 spark. The S tooth is still connecting, but when placing the spark plug wire near a ground source, I have no ark. I have swapped out distributors, spark plug wires, changed the internal coil on the ems from coil #1 to coil #2, and have 12 volts at the coil plug at the distributor. I removed the cap and the distributor shaft is spinning while cranking. All fuses were removed and instpected and show to be fine.

The only thing I could think is maybe a short in the origional harness may have poped both distributor coils when swaping between the two, or maybe a fuse im not familiar with that would be used for this exact spot, but im fresh out of ideas.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. This is my daily, and I need it up and running asap .

Thanks

When you swapped the new harness in, you had it running?

It sparked a couple of times, but never actually started.

Ok, well you HAD spark with the harness routed in the original location. So my guess would be you broke a wire, blew a fuse, smoked a relay etc when you relocated the harness under the intake. Unfvck the wiring and recheck all the relays and fuses first.

EDIT

Don't take this the wrong way, but performing all of this on your daily and going with a standalone system that requires in depth tuning isn't a really good idea. Hopefully we can get you up and running.

we checked the fuses & the relays, they all seem to be fine, no blown fuses or anything like that.

i think maybe the ground that goes from the coil to the rest of the wiring may be bad, so i was thinking, could i ground that wire else where by itself?

Why not use the FSM troubleshooting procedures? If you are using the existing sensors, then they should be the same. The troubleshooting should also alert you to problems in the wiring as well.

I had the the same problem, it ended up being a ground wire that I missed when I ran my harness under the intake manifold. follow the harness all the way back to the computer and check for ground wires

Went threw the procedures of the fsm, all wiring shows to be fine. I will try to pull the harness to see if i forgot any grounds, but i only have two in the engine bay.

I hard wired the ground cable for the distributor coil, still nothing. All grounds are attached properly, as there are only two in the engine bay.

Is there anything else i could look for? What relay is used for the distributor?

Thanks

Check for voltages to see if power is making it to the coil/distributor whne you find a no go then check resistance to see if there is a break in the wire

i got it fixed, aparently there was something in the tune that didn't let it start, but we loaded a new tune and now it all works, i just gotta fix some leaks and what not.
