i have a 94 vert and im about to turbo the ka. so far i have a t3/t4 turbo 50 trim, turbo manifold, 3" downpipe to a test pipe > 2.5" straight pipe > dual tip muffler 2.5"in/3"out, FMIC, 38mm wastegate, BOV, all piping etc, manual boost controller, walbro hp fuel pump, hi temp thermostat, z32 maf, and im still workin on buyin a top feed fuel rail w/ 550cc injectors and some sort of engine management system/piggyback. i also still need to buy gauges.

i was just wondering if anyone knows if theres more to it with changing over to top feed injectors than just replacing the fuel rail? also, what's a good EMS or piggyback system i should use for a good price? and is there anything else anyone recommends doing? im looking to get about 300whp out of this setup. im told if i go any higher i'll need forged rods, pistons, and possibly more internals done. i cant truly afford to do internals yet so thats put on hold. also, should i invest in a digital boost controller rather than the manual? does it make that big of a difference? oh, and do i need a fuel pressure regulator? what exactly does an aftermarket one do that the stock oem fpr cant handle?

lastly, im bolting all this on myself, but i have to drive about 30 miles to the shop thats going to tune it. i figure i'll just set it at like 5psi on the manual boost controller to get it there with, should be safe, but i dunno exactly how that works. is it safe ot drive it that far untuned?

any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Looks like you'll be ready to pwn fooz in no time! I'm getting my KAT tuned on friday!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOT

there is a website specifically for ka-t guys called www dot ka-t dot org and we all talk crazy talk about the wonders of ka-t! get on it!

Make sure you get the .63 AR turbo unless you want ungodly low spool like the .48... but i've read that quite a few with the .48 find it hard to cruise around without going into boost (on accident).

If you're looking for a solid EMS that doesn't cost a ton, check out CALUM. He does a realtime tunable setup for your stock ECU that is totally awesome. It is $350 (I paid $375 cuz he provided the ECU) and has a 6 foot usb cable. He provides the software necessary for tuning in real time while the car is running and the USB cable also creates a com port for you to use any of the major consult software!!! I bought Nissan Datascan for $30 and will be using it to log and tune in real time on friday!

Calum will also get you a .bin tune for your setup that will be somewhat in the ballpark so the tuners can get the car running, k values set, and go bananas much easier! Check into it! I know he does mostly SR20 ECU setups the same way. I'm sure you can find info about his work on these very forums!

Welcome to KAT. You won't regret it. And if you haven't seen what ka-t can do for you, right-click and save-as this link.

this guy is running 18 psi, which equals 400whp or so on a built bottom end with low comp pistons! wooooooot.

yeah, i know of ka-t.org and turbo240/AMS. i talk to chris over there all the time and eventually wanna buy the shortblock from them. i saw Ivan actually just got into super street this month with his 9.15 KAT s14. AMS is gettin huge i see, sport compact car had the 5 highest boosted evos and 4 out of 5 were from AMS.

thanks for the info on the EMS though, greatly appreciated. im definately looking into that. what do you think about a fuel pressure regulator? is it necessary for what im doing? and should i invest in an expensive one or a no-name off ebay. im not even sure exactly what the difference is between em and a stock oem one. some are telling me i need one, others telling me no. also should i invest in my own wideband o2 sensor? the shop i was gonna have tune it has one and they said i dont need one, but if i ever wanna do the tuning myself i guess i'll need one. first i need to save for a laptop it seems....

Thanks!

ok, so i got a good fuel pressure regulator just to be on the safe side. and i got side feed 550cc's to fit in the stock fuel rail instead. about the wideband o2 sensor and my other questions, any other help would be greatly appreciated. esp. if anyone else has done this setup before or turbo-ed their ka24de...

~Thanks
