So, My friend has a T28 turbo and its seized up.

My question is can I just take a T25 Thrust bearing Center cartridge and replace the T28 BB one with it? I didn't know if they can just be swapped like that or not.

I have easy access to T25 center cartridge and I know the BB one can not be rebuilt.

I am converting a SR20DE to DET and I'm doing it as cheap as possible.

You're talking about taking the T28 wheels and putting them in the T25 center housing? IIRC, the center shafts are different diameters, which would prevent you from doing that. But if you have easy access to both turbos, might as well try and see if it's doable.

I have access to the T28 I would have to buy a T25 from the junkyard.. thats close by. I was wondering before I jumped into the endeavor. Is there a non Ball bearing T28 turbo that was on any cars here in the states you know of ?
