Ok so I have a question, I just got my turbo in the mail and idk what it is or what its off of... the guy said an rb20 but idk. can somebody help me with determining this, here are some pics.
When i google it , it comes up as a vg30 or something like that off an RB25? idk.

Looking at my rb20 turbo its the same as mine. But you're missing the rest of the piping that goes to those 3 bolts, and you're missing the actuator. I'm pretty sure its a rb20 turbo.

You have pink fingernails.

Also that is definitely a rb20/rb25/vg30det turbo, but I have no idea as to witch one it is.

I also have a vg30 turbo and they don't have those 3 bolts. So it can't be a vg30. And I pulled mine from my old buddies z31.

Why would you buy a turbo if you have no idea what your doing? The best thing you can do to learn is read, then read some more, and then ask questions.

I said vg30det not vg30et.

The turbo will work, you will just need a t-3 flanged manifold to bolt to the ka and a down pipe with the correct flange to bolt onto the turbo. You will also need injectors, maf, and a tune, so go spend some time in the ka-t sub forums and you will be able to get a good handle on what all you will need to turbo your ka.

Hmmmm.... I have 2 vg30dets sitting in my workshop and always assumed they were t3, I'll have to take a closer look next chance I get.

Probably very few people have put a T3 flanged T25/28 turbo on a KA. By the pics it looks like it would fit about any top mount manifold though.

it will fit a t3 topmount manifold. only thing you have to do is have or make a custom up/down pipe to connect the turbo to the rest of the exhaust.

Ok good. So I need a t3 flange too? Isn't the flange the part that goes from the turbo to the manifold? Like an adaptor? Im sorry I ask alot of questions just google doesn't answer questions like that about the turbo. What size fmic do I need? Like pipe size or what not

the flanges are the parts that match together on the manifold and turbo. so yes you are correct. the piping size depends on how much hp you're aiming for ie. so more hp=bigger piping.(biggest would be 3" and smallest piping would be 2.5") but that turbo i wouldnt push more than 13psi because the exhaust fins are made of ceramic which after 13psi of boost, they will break/fly off and go through a vortex to another demension. if you plan on using that turbo then try and get a medium sized intercooler. (28x7x2.5)

Ok so the flange size? I need a t3 right? And I'll get 2.5 I only want like 7 psi. Not to much for awhile. And I'll go with 2.5 inch exhaust piping right? And how would I find a downpipe to fit it? Do I need it welded or bolted ?

yes a t3 flange maniold to match your t3 flange turbo. and welded or bolted piping is your choice and depends on how much money you want to pay someone to weld it so you can bolt or make it one piece. 2.5 inch exhaust piping is fine but might as well go with 3 inch since you're going to want to push more psi(eveyone does sooner or later, dont care who ya are) ebay has down pipe. if it says sr20 downpipe, it will fit the ka too. but this is where you will need to fab or have someone make you an "up" pipe to connect to the downpipe from the turbo.

Couldn't I do a t3 to t25 flange so it fits on a t25 manifold or do u have to have the adapter piece that goes in-between the manifold and turbo? So I could hook the turbo straight to the t3 manifold

no, t3 is bigger than a t2 flange. so if you got a t2 flange manifold you will have to cut off the t2 flange and then weld a t3 flange on there

Oh ok. Well a t3 mani will fit straight to my turbo correct? No adapters or other pieces? Also do I have to have the actuator for the internal wastegate? Where do I find one for that turbo?.... Do I have to have a rb25 actuator or a universal one will work?

Yes t3 manifold is what you need. As far as the actuator. I do not know. Bigot both ny turbo with the actuator on them. And getting a stock or aftermarket actuator is a must. You do need it. Just not sure where to get them.

umm, what are the things on the side of the turbo that are coming out of it, the have a hole thru the middle of it, somebody told me its water cooled and air cooled so i have to have some kind of water pipe thru it, is this true?

Its oil and water cooled. So you will have to have custom water and oil lines made to connect to it to keep the turbo cool.
