Thought I had a boost leak, but wasnt able to find one. Then the problem went away on its own or so I thought. Couple days went by when I was on the way to work I got off of the freeway and came to a stop. When I took off I had no boost in 1st, 5psi in 2nd, and full boost in 3rd but not until 4500rpms. I put a dial indicator on the turbo today and got 0.013"(spec is 0.0005-0.0038) of thrust play and the waste gate didn't move until I had 20psi on it. Just want to make sure that this means the turbo is stuffed. If so I want to upgrade, but dont have to money for injectors and fuel management right now. What turbo could I go with that would be ok for now and get me to 300-350hp when Im ready for injector and fuel management? I'm on a buget so I'd like to stay around the $600-$700 range.

Which engine do you have? Are you running a converter?

does your turbo make noises while running? Thought it could be a clogged cat, but that sounds like you have a new one.

A friend of mine who normally drives a wrx drove it around the block. The first thing he said when he got back was "holy sh*t thats loud". It sounds a lot higher pitched then other turbos I've heard, but I've never heard a bad turbo. And yeah the cats brand new only been running for about 3 weeks. I think it might be starting to make noise at idle now too.

you are going to be WAY more spacific than t3/t04ethe gt32 is a t3/to4e. there are prolly about 200 different types of t3/to4e turbos

t3/t04e .50a/r comp. 57trim and .63a/r turbine.

the gt32 say capable of over 430hp, I asked the dealer and they say it has a .50a/r comp with 73 trim and the turbine housing is .78a/r. this does sounds better than t3/t4, but regular t28 does have bigger spec too.so I wonder if this gt32 will out perform or same as t3/t4 with stock boost.......

the adapter i made was a 2.5 linch long oval stainless tube. it had the wastegate on the bottom of it facing the firewall. i had no problems fitting a t4 flanged turbo in there.

if you wanted to comepare somthing you need the complete specs of both turbos and the compressor maps of both as well to do it the right way. otherwise its going to just be guessing
