You may just be hearing the impeller spinning, tighten the bolts/replace the gasket to fix your leak and see if the noise is still there.

Your fine, just get a new gasket from nissan, enjuku or your local auto parts store and replace it. If you dont have SS turbo line could be a good time to invest in those as well.

Not dumb just inexpierenced.

EDIT: Also you could order the factory locking tabs or make your own so this wont happen so often. Trust me you will need some kind of locking device. I didnt think i needed it and ended up pulling my manifold and turbo 3 times in a week trying to get them to stay tight. Finally i just fabbed my own locking plate and it held for over 2 years.

Locking tabs are evil! I've had my go around with them a lot in the past.

But your turbo is ok, just like the other said. I had a similar issue in the past, and that sound is your gasket just flapping in the exhaust pouring out of the flange. When you replace it all, get brand new lock tabs from Nissan and don't use any anti-seize. I also like to take a bladed screwdriver and chisel a portion of the tab into the side of the nut once I have the tabs deformed up the nuts. It's kind of an extra assurance that the tabs won't let the nuts vibrate off.
