ur best bet is to piece together one urself as i havent really seen a kit for the KA24E. most of the kits out there are for the KA24DE so you could use everything except the mani and maybe the injectors if they are sidefeed.................

I don't think there will ever be a true smog legal kit. I had spoken to a Greddy P.R. rep and he said that no plans are in order to make a turbo kit for any of the S13's, much less a smog legal one. As far as the S14 is concerned, I found out that the Greddy kit was deemed NOT smog legal since it involves removing the factory cat during the installation process (the cat is part of the stock exhaust manifold). If you do a NICO search on the topic I am pretty sure you will find what you are looking for. Be sure to do this prior to posting anything.

When I talked to GReddy they said the S14 kit was still pending..liars! I was depending on that blasted thing to pass.

Isn't it stupid how they can make just about everyone one of their kits legal and have had great success with them but they can't seem to get the 240 one right?...I smell conspiricy...

There isn't a street legal turbo kit for the KA engine (both E and DE)... however, you can drop in a newer v6 engine from nissan into your old 240 and it would be street legal.

Which Nissan V6? I thought of looking at that option with a N/A VQ30DE from a 93+ (legal swap and smog) 300ZX.

Don't quote me on this, but you can drop any newer engine into your car year and it would be legal.

Absolushun, our newest sponsor IAP has a kit for the KA24E, although it is not smog legal. Like others are saying, I dont know of any kit for either the KA-E or KA-DE that is Cali smog legal, although some (depending on tuning) are capable of passing regular sniffer tests in other states.

There is also a matter of the Visual Inspection (VI) as well. I've also heard of people being able to pass the emissions portion of the test but fail on the VI. Unless you know of a "good" smog shop, I am pretty sure that VI will not be an issue.

I have the greddy kit and I only took off mani not the cat and as a fact its still on the car, wtf are they talking about the cat is a funny design but its still on the car, I don't think greddy tells you to remove the cat either so that just seems like bs to me, and no they aren't one peice

Just downloaded the installation directions from the Greddy site and looked it over. turbo98_240sx is correct about the S14 cat. It is found under Section 3-9 titled Catalytic Converter Installation "1. Install the factory catalytic converter to the down pipe."

I guess I stand corrected!

It's legal.. You just have to get it referee'd. Kinda stupid.. makes me hate CA.. The Greddy kit says it CARB legal o_O so I guess it should be legal. But it's saying it's for96+ 240sx.. why's that?

Holy christ how many people are going to ask the same question.

Cally blows. Nothing for cars is legal there.

Not its not legal... Read the damn book.

My understandoing is that a CARB EO number will never be issued for any of Greddy's turbo kits using E-Manage as it can be changed by the user (with relative ease). I think if Greddy were to release a non-tunable version of the E-Manage hardware to use in their kits, they may have a better chance.

But then again, who knows. JWT has apprently been having issues getting an EO# for their 350Z turbo kits as well. They may be getting more stringent on the cold start emissions.

Even the upcoming GT-R will be using somekind of cold-start bypass (wastegate) to help the cats light off quicker. My bet is on an electronically actuated wastegate(s).

In any case, I don't think we'll ever see a CARB Legal kit from Greddy.
