Search on the Altima forums (I think thats the same platform). Your best bet would be turboing the KA in it.

SEARCH.

Welcome.

Good luck!!

A 200sx? It'd be cheaper and easier to turbo a 240sx.

Yep, and that's why I'm seeing more and more ghetto-rigged 240s Besides he said he drives a 200sx.

To the OP, I suggest starting in the SR20DE FWD forum section and start reading.

yea i think some people didn't take their medications today or yesterday. first off, what model do you have? secondly, who the hell said KA? there's no KA in the 200sx............anyways, run a quick search to see if it's even worth doing the mods. i personally don't know but if you have to spend 3 grand to get 80 wrhp, perhaps u need to look at another platform.

ultimately..the best bet would be to buy a tranverse SR20DET or be a balla and get an SR20VE

go check out the sentra forums

and get a VE...it'd be badass.

I think there's a few turbo GA's out there though.

...that was me... lol

See I knew the Altima came with the KA24de. I just assumed the 200sx (which is pretty much the altima coupe) had a base model that came with the KA. Now that I look, I see the base came with the GA16 and the se-R came with the SR20.

IMO thats a pretty simple mistake. Don't get all bent outta shape!!

No, the US 200SX was a B chassis, a la Sentra coupe.

OP - Hit up the Sentra forum, we can help you there.

If you have a GA, you *could* do a few mods to it or even turbo it, but you're better off saving your chips and dropping in an SR of some kind if you really want performance.

VE's are a hoot, particularly with I/H/E and a cam/springs upgrade - rev to 9k all day - but they're just as expensive as a DET and make less power per dollar. It all depends on what you want.

Not sure who moved this, but thanks (my mod powers don't extend beyond this realm). Now we're in the right place. Hopefully the OP can find it.

First of, do you have the GA16DE (1.6) or SR20DE (2.0)? I will assume the GA16DE since you said 200SX and did not mention SE-R anywhere. Poor college student; I can work with you on that, I am in the same vote. The GA16DE is a very underrated engine, yeah no 300+ whp with a simple turbo bolt-on like the SR- and CA-series; we have to take it the hard way. Here are some cheap but cost effective upgrades you can do on the GA16DE to increase performance.

1. cold air intake kit (CAI); there are many companies out there that make universal and specific CAI kits for the GA16DE. Get rid of that stock airbox! Even a short-ram intake (SRI) is better than nothing.

2. headers; with Hotshot out of business nowadays, the only real company to get GA16DE headers from is OBX. There is a lot of controversy around OBX and their header design for the GA16DE, but within the last two years, they have copied the runner design from HotShot and are mass-producing it without any ill-effects. You can pick up a set of these for around $100-$150 depending on where you shop. They are an easy bolt-up, and add around 10-15 horsepower (supposedly) when partnered with a CAI.

3. ignition; upgrade to NGK plugs and wires. You pay a little more, but boy does NGK know what they are doing when it comes to imports. Forget Bosch and Champion, they blow "literally" for Nissans.

These three things will add better response and performance from your GA16DE. Since you have the 2nd generation engine, you don't have a good deal of power in the lower rpms (pre-3k). That makes the car seem sluggish and awkward, but once you clear 3500rpms the engine really take off. I think peak torque is around 4000rpms actually, maybe even 4500? Not really sure, but hope this helps. You can get all this done for less than $300 easy, and you should be able to install everything yourself so no labour costs.

Turbo is not the route to go unless you want to devote some serious money and time. The only real option out there in terms of a pre-made kit is from TSI, and it only comes with a T20 turbo which is even smaller than my K03 in terms of boost delivery. I think the T20 is only good for 180whp on the GA16DE, which while is nothing to scoff at, is not worth the nearly $1500 you are forking over for it. You can buy the turbo manifold itself from TSI, and a T25 or T28 turbo separate and mate the two together, but you are talking about extensive engine management overhauling. To run a real reliable turbo setup (if there is one ), you will need engine fuel management and all sorts of other goodies. That stuff adds up quick; a simple S-AFC II will cost you almost $200 on eBay alone.
