I just took off my busted CA T25, and went on to mate the SR T25 turbo to the stock CA manifold, but it wont sit. The manifold butts up against the turbo and wont go all the way on. Is this a commen issue? If so what do I do?My friend suggested that he make a spacer at his machine shop, Im sure that will work. Thanks for the advice.

It needs to be clocked. There's a large snap ring on the rear of the compressor housing. Squeeze it together (this is a PITA) and rotate the compressor housing a few degrees to clear the exhaust manifold. Or, if you're the guy who installed it on my motorset, cut off the offending part:

I don't reccommend doing that. I had to buy a blown turbo in order to replace the compressor housing + clock.

Ouch! That's brutal!

Yep, you need to clock the housing. I went out and bought one of those screw type snap ring compressors, worked pretty well but still a pain.

I got a pair at Advance for $10 I think. But I dont recommend them for heavy-duty snap rings like the turbo compressor. Go to Sears and get some good ones.

yea, the snap ring is pretty heavy duty. I went through a few pairs of snap ring pliers the first time. Id spray some wd-40 or something similar to make it an easier turn as well.

I've bought multiple sets of snap ring pliers last week and never could find a set that was big enough. I even went to Sears!

I finally ended up buying a big pair of needle nose pliers and bending the tips in towards each other.

Thats what I used too.......super long needle nose pliars, but with 90 degree tips......worked perfect for clocking the turbo

So I all I need to do is get some Snap Ring Pliers, loosen the ring and turn the turbo housing until it clears?? Anything that I need to worry about when doing this? If so, it'll be done this weekend after I take my exam. Thanks for the help

wow, this is a kick to my teeth! I needed MY turbo to be clocked the way u have it. Are all SR20's the oppisite clocked as CA turbos?

but when u clock the turbo doesnt it cause issue with the wastegate?

It only needs to be clocked just a tad to clear the mani......not enough to cause an extreme angle with the acuator arm.

The AmPro ones we sell at Advance are not even good enough for the snap ring on my HKS SSQV. I actually got some 90* needle nose pliers at Harbor Freight that are decent enough for beefy snap rings.

Is "hoss" the official new cool CA forum word?

I think we should all try and use it one in every post for the next 24 hours...

Jhot.

Besides the compressor housing on the turbo being messed up, everything else is perfect. Minor irritation nonetheless...

Damn dude, I saw that motor when we got it and didn't even notice it had an SR turbo on it until we were about to ship it out. It was one of the worse sr turbo swaps I had seen. Sorry man.

you nerds.

do you guys actually use it in verbal communication? (i do, have for years)

but about the turbo: i managed to clock the gtir t28 without messing with the snap ring...i unbolted the center housing from both compressor and turbine housings and rotated everything until it sat nicely for me... then cut and welded the wastegate actuator bracket so it could work again

....with my hoss ratcheting wrench
