Hey guys....i wanted to know if there was anyway to run 3" piping to the muffler i have now and widen the inlet from 2.25 to 3" to match it. I really do not fancy the single outlet muffler. I want to stick with my dual 2.5 tip stainless steel muffler. Is this do-able? I love the sound my muffler puts out, very deep and throaty. Anyone know how much it would cost to have the 3" piping run and work done to the muffler (if possible)? Thanks for the help

I have a BRM 2.5 exhaust and had a muffler shop connect a 3 inch pipe from the downpipe to the 2.5 exhaust minus the cat for 90bucks.

well i know that can be done but i want 3 inch pipe connected to my 2.25 inlet muffler w/o backpressure. I need the muffler inlet bored/stretched/cut to accept the 3 inch pipe with no restrictions. A local shop told me that they can make me a downpipe, and do 3in exhaust for 9$/foot

Better off selling the old one and getting a new one that is 3 inches.

that is the problem though..no one makes a dual outlet turbo exhaust. I just do not want a single HUGE canister muffler...not for me

yea...only it looks a little odd, and is very expensive. I have heard great things about them though. I also would like to keep mine so the locals won't notice a difference and think nothing of it.

local shop here charges $200 for 3" all the way to the back + muffler & whichever tip ya want.now as to makin a 2.25" to 3", don't really think so, better change it.

it's not worth the money to "expand" your tip... the inside of the muffler will still be something like 2.25", so expanding the little inlet isn't going to really change anything in terms of it being restrictive... of course you can just go buy a reducer, or a series of reducers so you can go from like 3" to 2.5" and then 2.5" to 2.25". a welding job like that is quite simple and it will just require that you cut your old muffler off where you want it cut and then weld it up with the new reducers.... shouldn't cost too much... professional welders generally charge at the very least $40/hour for labor. just find a friend with a little mig welder and get it done... or go buy a mig, learn to weld and do it yourself... migs are pretty well priced as far as welders go (about $350).

quick solutions by a second muffler and gut out the one you have now. Do you understand what i'm saying, well that will only work for looks, you won't get the same sound though. because you're hearing a na motor exhaust, and a turbo motor exhaust is much quieter

muffler shop? they should either have mandrel machine (less likely) or have pre bent exhaust piping they can cut for you. I think it runs between 100-300, depending on the shop.

^ That's HOT!!!

Who makes that?

Can't see the "officials" having a problem with that, and we have them with a 3" inlet.

Better to just do the whole system though. Mix-and-match is a bad idea when it comes to exhaust... Never know what the effect will be.

p.s. Very expensive? That system in 3" can be had for $595 shipped...

if you want 3" turbo back, and then a stock looking muffler my vote is for the yellow cars muffler, hands down. gutting your original one will make it sound very obvious, even if it doesn't look obvious that you did something extra.
