I've read a lot about turbo charging the 240's stock plant, I also just bought the new SCC mag an it talked about how you can build your own turbo for pocket change, which in a lot of "OUR" cases (speaking for many of us) it sounds like a great deal!!! but here comes the ORDEAL!!!!! on e-bay there are literally hundreds of kits already set up for the KA engine, for a lot less than pocket change......... now does anyone here has tried to get one of these? and if that is the case what do u think about the product? reliability, cost effectiveness, product quality and so on........?

yes its worth it if you have a strong ka still with good compression numbers and low mileage and run no more than 10psi on stock internals., I have the same mazgine, I plan on using the same turbo as they did for the 240 in the magzine, the turbo was a holset hx35.

Those Ebay kits are trouble. The turbo's they use are low quality, any thing that says greddy, hks, turbonetics STYLE is usually trash. You could build a good reliable kit from new parts for about 2k. Go to http://www.jgstools.com they have good cheap manifolds and turbo accesories.

not all Ebay cheapie turbos are bad. just some. ive used the XS Power turbos buy SS Autochrome and they have all been fine. they use Garrett internals. however, dont expect to boost them to 25psi unless you want to blow the front of the compressor housing off.

Dude, blowers are cool, but I will probably still pick turbo just because it will probably take an M90 to pull the numbers my home-made t3/t04b will make.
