Has anyone ever installed either a turbocharger or an electronic supercharger onto their Rogue? I am interested in getting a little more power out of the Rogue. I was investigating the Supercharger and it showed some promise. Has anyone actually done it? What was the result?

Your waisting your time with electronic super chargers (And Turbos's?). Your better off keeping it stock because those things are as fake as fuel saving devices.

No one here has done a forced induction setup of any kind on the Rogue.

However, there have been lots of turbo setups done for the Sentra. You may want to check out the Sentra forums here on NICOClub for ideas. The Rogue shares it's QR25DE motor with the Sentra SE-R and Altima 2.5. This engine been turbo'ed many times already and it responds very well.

I think the biggest hurdle with any forced induction system is going to be the CVT transmission. Unlike some automatics or manuals, it has a very finite torque capacity. The added stress of any forced induction system could well shorten the life of the transmission.

Thank you both.

So then in order to even think about more power in the rogue I am going to need to change the CVT to the one used in the Murano and get the turbo that works on the Sentra. This is beginning to sound like it is going to void my warranty. If so then it is definitely not worth it.

If it were only that easy.... the CVT from the VQ35DE V-6 in the Murano will not work with our 4cyl engines. It's bigger, it won't bolt up, and the CVT computer will likely not communicate with the Rogue's engine computer.

CVT issues aside, Nissan will deny any warranty claims if something should fail with a turbo kit installed. It's very black and white... read your warranty guide:

Quote »WHAT IS NOT COVERED:DAMAGE, FAILURES OR CORROSION DUE TO ACCIDENTS, MISUSE OR ALTERATIONSThis warranty does not cover damage, failures or corrosion resulting from:

■ Alteration, tampering or improper repair.■ Installation of non-Nissan approved accessories or components.[/quote]

Wow - where to begin. Like Philip said, the murano transmission wouldn't fit our cars -- I don't even think that you could use that transmission if it fit for any sort of forced induction. Not only that, you'd need to change the spark plugs, the manifold, add piping, and an innercooler as well as other custom work if you were to try to install a turbocharger. But wait, there's more -- you'd probably need to work on both the exhaust and intake system as well as possibly moving the battery to the back. Oh, and then there's reconfiguring the ECU and beyond that is tuning.

And don't forget, you probably will not be legal with emissions after all this is done, so you'll have to remove your set-up when it comes time to get the car smogged.

You might as well just trade in your rogue for a murano or an infiniti F35 to get more power.

If it's just a little teeny bit of power there is one possibility. Some of the folks who've gotten their computers re-programmed have felt more pick-up. Maybe you should look into that instead!

or if you want a little more power and dont need/want to upgrade the size you can consider the Acura RDX which is about the same size as the rogue and comes with 220HP...there around 30k used here (Canadian)

Infiniti EX/FX series?

I mean let's be honest, many of the design features from the Rogue come straight from those cars.

Firstly, thank you guys for opening my eyes up.

I think at the dealership they recently reprogrammed my computer as part of a recall or Nissan recommended upgrade or something like that. I was really basically hoping that it could be done. But now I will avoid the thought like the plague...

Secondly, I learnt my lesson a long time ago that you shouldn't mess with a good thing. If it ain't broke......

I will stick to the simple stuff to make my Rogue unique. You know, things like Rims, Tires, Grill etc. Besides the AWD makes it pretty quick off the light anyway.

Also I have been a Nissan owner for a long time. Nissan has stood the test of time. Thirdly, the only thing I would trade my Rogue in for would be a SER version if they ever thought to make one. Never going to happen... I know I know... But one can dream.

It all depends on your perspective and what you value in a vehicle. If you want a purely performance vehicle and don't care about fuel efficiency or utility, then the Rogue probably isn't the right vehicle for you.

The Rogue is the right vehicle for me because it strikes the perfect balance of power, performance, efficiency, utility and looks. I would not trade off any of these things to get more power, and to me the Rogue is VERY powerful with plenty of pickup anyway. Honestly I probably drive around town and never give it more than a quarter throttle, and for those times when I think I need more power, all I do is step down on the throttle a little harder and man does my Rogue ever move! More throttle = more power, no need for fancy efficiency-robbing upgrades for me!

I used to own a 1984 300ZX with the 3.0 L V6 that was basically just a sports car and it made around 160 horsepower - very little utility and efficiency but fun to drive because it had ample power. Now my Rogue is a little bigger and heavier, but not by much, and the 4 cylinder is more powerful or lets say roughly equal to the "sporty" V6 but with much better efficiency. So how can you complain about that??!!! And for those who say , "oh the Rogue only comes with a 4 cylinder, why can't I get a V6?", I'm sorry but times have changed and you need to get with the program!!! The current 4 cylinders such as the Rogues QR25 equal or exceed V6 performance and provide superior efficiency, it's something that wasn't possible even a decade ago!! We should all be cheering that such an incredible situation is even possible.

Just my opinion, feel free to disagree!

Please do not get me wrong I LOVE MY ROGUE!!!!!!!!!! It is the perfect blend at the price point. It handles like a car. It holds load like a BIG SUV. It sips Gas like a subcompact and it's a sexy car. I guess I wanted more power in addition to everything it already has. I did not want to substitute anything in it to get more power. I simply wanted to add more power to the already awesome package. However I am perfectly happy with it as it is. This vehicle meets all my needs and then some.
