Not trying to go OT, but have you noticed good results after going with a turbo blanket? under-bay temps lower? Do you notice any coking or do you let your car idle for a bit before turning it off (or turbo-timer?)

I have always been interested in the effectiveness of a blanket on a street car. Do you have your header and DP wrapped as well?

i can get you the same black or silver turbo blanket for $100 shipped. probably $5 cheaper if i can get a group buy going, maybe for 20 people?. the turbo blanket definitely lowers the under hood temperature dramatically. especially if your turbine is near the brake reservoir.

That seems like a fairly reasonable price. How does each color hold up? Do they fade or become chalky etc.?

What sizes can you get ahold of BoostFab?

I have mine ceramic coated inside and out, but it is still a little warmer than I'd like it to be under the hood. Then again, I'm anal.

they hold up just fine; i had the flat-silver one on my car for 2 years on a 60-1 before i sold the car.they went to shiny silver now.

as long as you don't have exhaust leak on the turbo-back, even the regular wrap will burn too.

these are universal for t3-t4, i can even get T6 also--biggest one for the larger blowzilla turbos, but it cost more.

turbo blankets are a great $100 purchase. i have a black one from ebay, and it looks like the day i bought it. helps tremendously for underhood temps. keeps paint from discoloring on your hood if you have a top mount. takes heat off the master cylinder too. i've done multiple track days with it and it has been perfectly fine.

i also run exhaust wrap on the downpipe. my turbine/manifold/downpipe are also ceramic coated.

be careful about spilling fluids on it though. i take it off when i'm working in that area. oil soaked blanket or exhaust wrap = bad news

id like a black t3/t4 turbo blanket, how much for manifold wrap in black and what size rolls do u have? and do you have the shiny silver stuff (tinfoil looking heat wrap) too, for my steering shaft? is that worth doing?

I'm not sure why you're so worried about your steering rack. It is pretty far from exhaust heat. Either way, check out some of DEI's products. They have a long line of everything from hose heat protection to the reflective heat tape you're talking about.

<edit> I thought I should elaborate by posting a link:http://www.designengineering.c...cid=7

i dont know, just a lil paranoid with the little clearance from the dump pipe. if its ok to being that close to it, then i guess ill just leave it and wrap the dump pipe, and get a blanket

what manifold are you using ? typically i don't recommend wrapping manifolds, especially if it's stainless and cast.

you don't need to worry about the heat of the lower section of the downpipe, but wrapping the upper section also help lower heats in the engine bay.

as for wrappers, these are pretty standard; look on summit racing, i think you can get best deals on there. i don't deal with heat wrap, only the turbo blanket.

So you do not recommend wrapping the stock cast exhaust header? Just a blanket and DP wrap? Is this better than the stock heat-shield for the elbow?

the cast metal expand and contract rapidly, trapping the heat under the wrapper may make it crack. the stock heat shield is fine. i would do the heat blanket + down pipe wrapped.
