Okay, Gang,

Pt. 2 of insane questions...

I am thinking of swapping engines from the 18 to the 20. On the same note, I am wondering if I should think of other engines to put into my versa... Anyways, I have been researching engine swapping because I plan on modifying my Versa, which leads to my next point.

I have been researching across the net and have not found anything that speaks on turbo and/or supercharging compact four cylinders. Does anyone have any information on if a Versa could handle a Turbo and/or supercharger? If so, what steps would I need to take to have this done?

Thanks for all input,

VSL

from my understanding the new nissan versa come with either a 1.6 motor or a 1.8. now i dont know if that 1.6 motor is a mr16 but if it is i could see someone putting that one supercharger from impul on their v. as for turbo..go ahead and turbo your versa...but i much rather swap the motor with one that already has turbo and can take a beating. its a future project for my v. but i wouldnt recommend dropping a turbo in you versa unless you have a 2nd reliable car to take you places. you can put a mr20 in your versa if you like...others have done it..but i think its a waste of time.

Unfortunately seeing discussions on other forums and finding out the differences in the way turbo and na engines are put together, slapping a turbo on an na four banger is harder than it sounds. For starters the internals are different between the two engines. Then the programming of the ecu would need to be changed up. There are other things also that need to be replaced but I don't know what all it would take. Hope this helps a little.

Jakked,

A couple years ago there was a Versa by Fox Marketing that was turbocharged by an Impul Turbo Kit. This was the only production turbo for the car. From what I remember, a member purchased the turbo, but then wound up blowing his engine. Now, a few members have been involved in putting together a supercharger kit for the V. The thread is actually a couple under this one under "Engine, Drivetrain, and Tuning." They are working pretty hard to hopefully have a functional unit in the hopefully near-er future. Check out that thread, seeing as how I don't know MUCH about the particulars, it may give you some insight on how to take on such a project yourself.

PS: Welcome to the forum!

there is a supercharger coming out soon. I did an MR20DE swap to my versa, it was worth it. However if you try to swap any other motor other than the mr20 your going to have to replace the ecu, get new motor mounts, and all sorts of other s***. the mr20 is a direct swap to the mr18, just pull out the mr18 and put the mr20 in, it bolts up.
