How effective are the stock heat shields?

They work well. I'd keep them unless you're planning on ceramic coating the manifold, turbo exhaust housing, and downpipe.

I ceramic coated and run the stock shield. You need every bit of help you can get. Certainly don't run without it.

I ran without mine for a while, then went back to using it. If my stock turbo shield still fit, I'd run that too.

The stock heat shield not only helps with underhood temps, but most importantly it keeps your intake piping from heatsoaking. I would run one if you still have the stock manifold and turbo, plus they cover up the ugly a** stock manifold.

Heat shields win.

dammit...I don't have them anymore. I need all the help I can get on keeping the underhood temps down. When Im getting to like 190F, if I pull over and just pop the hood with the car still running, temps instantly drop.

I've got the turbo shield, but no kidding just got rid of the manifold shield last week. $10 + shipping for the turbo shield sound ok?

Crap, I just realized it's just the shiny metal shield, and there is no bracket with it. Is the bracket integrated into the stock turbo? I can't remember. It's been a while since I ran one. Let me look around for a manifold shield too.

I need to put my heat shields back on. I live in South Florida and my car is running hot. I agree every little bit helps.

Hold that for me. I'm waiting on Ricky to get back with me to see if he has both the manifold and turbo shields.

Def. put the shields on, I regret not putting mine on. Stock turbo on my 25 and I have already started melting my brake master reservoir. I need to put mine back on.

cjmartz2k, If I don't end up finding mine. I might need you to hold one for me as well. For reasons mentioned above. Thanks.

The turbo shields are easy enough to come by and pretty easy to get off, so I can probably get more. Just let me know. The manifold ones not so easy IIRC when it's in the car, so I don't really want to go getting a bunch of those. Might for the right price, but I don't want to be a d!ck and charge people a grip for a little piece of metal.

I used tin snips to cut mine to fit over the slightly bigger turbo when I started going to the track. I kept melting plastic bits in the general area.

I can completely understand that, If you do end up getting any extras email me at [email protected]. I have also been trying to source just a z32 brake master reservoir, apparently they don't sell just the reservoir. I have not seen many z32s when I have been to our local pull-a-parts. If its not too trouble, try to see if there are any z32 reservoirs, the next time you visit the local yard.
