I have always done my own work on my cars but unfortunately am new to turbos.. i recently bought a '90 240sx with a ka24det swap from the factory ka24e, with the job that he did it seemed as if the only time this dumb a$$ worked on the car was when he was drunk.. i have had some friends that work at performance shops that have told me vacuum lines are hooked up wrong, the bov is in the wrong position, and the turbo may have even been mounted wrong , i was wondering if there were any detailed pictures anyone had of a correctly done ka24det just for reference.. thanks..

Why dont you start by telling us what its doing wrong, and any problems your having. Or any concerns, whatever. Theres some reason your posting on here.

A picture is not going to really tell you what you need to know.

Your going to have to be a lot more specific if you want some help.

It kinda sounds like your getting a lot of bad feedback, like feedback from people who dont know what they are talking about. For instance, the 'bov is mounted wrong' statement.. Theres very few ways you can mount a bov wrong'.. If your vac lines arnt hooked up right, your going to have obvious and big problems. Same thing with the 'turbo is mounted wrong', that sounds like a load of crap. How can a turbo be functional and mounted wrong lol.

Fill us in.

with the turbo mounted wrong.. the guy had to custom fab the hood to get it to close with the turbo mounted.. when the car is running it has about negative 10 lbs of boost on the gauge and i was told that one of the lines that looks like it is running into the engine is supposed to run to the intake, and idk what they were talking about with the bov.. for a while the car wouldnt start but i replaced the ignition control module and put new spark plugs in it and now it starts but backfires rapidly and repeatedly and will not rev up over 2000 rpm, im pretty sure it has something to do with the fuel system, but not sure how to check it, also wondering if it could have something to do with the alternator or battery because when the car is hooked up to jumper cables and attached to my daily driver it runs better than when it is not hooked up, im just trying to find out whats wrong to get it back into good running condition

Sound sliek one problem is a grounding issue. Which is why hooked up to another vehicle it runs betterSecond issue it should be at -20 not -10 at idole. so eithe rgauge is wrong hooke dup wrong or something engine wise is wrong like cams. What is the car timing? should be 20degrees. Could be the whole problem

Why would you post a picture of a longblock with manifolds, out of the engine bay, with a huge topmount on it lol. That doesnt help this guy at all.

You need to rent a timing light from a parts store. Hook the battery leads up, then the clip on number one wire.

Then, aim the light at the crank pulley on the right side as looking down from the front. The light will blink on and off, and aim up at 6 marks on your pulley. Sometimes it helps to mark the ..marks on the pulley with like orange/green paint.

Your trying to see if your engine is 'timed', or lined up with the first mark that passes the rod(coming out of your lower timing chain cover next to your crank pulley on the right) that you use as a reference when looking at the crank pulley.
