So i have an 86 300 and it has a base VG30e and i would like to turbocharge it but only with a single turbo. I have done internal engine work so i know it can handle quite a bit of boost but i need to know if this has ever been attempted and completed successfully and if so what parts might i need to collect from somewhere seeing as there is no kits available.

? you do knwo they were available fomr the factory with a single turbo right? if you want to add a turbo it's far easier to sell your can and buy a turbo, if you want to convert yours you can but even then it's best to get a single donor to get all the aprts, you'll need:front corssmember fomr a factory turbo carturbodrivers side exhaust manifolddrivers side engine moutn bracket from a turbo car or modify yoursdownpipeoil "T"Oil lineOil panengine harnessecuinjectorsinlet pipingif you turbo the higher compression n/a motor I'd recomend adding an intercooler

you can also buy the satan exhaust manifold that relocates the turbo to the front to avoid the engine moutn and crossmsmnber issue but you then have to fab your own oil and return lines as well in inlet out let piping and exhaust extension

here si my 87 n/athttp://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=388953

i agree, its wayy easier to just go for a turbo version or get a donor that you can swap complete engine in and out of. at that point you'll be able to upgrade the turbo components while the engine is out anyways. makes life a lot easier.

these aren't like the Z32, you can change turbo's injectors, etc with the engine int he car and no real drama, not as easy as the S30 but still a heck of a lto eassier than the Z32

Yea, but a factory turbo has 180whp and the NA2T is around 210. Of course, always easier to buy something you don't have to work on. But as soon as you get the turbo car, you would be wise to rip a bunch of s*** out of the engine bay to do the timing belt anyway. Might as well do the NA2T at the same time.

sorry but the n/at at the same boost levels as the Turbo would be only about 5hp more, you can only extract x amount of power form x amount of air, and when you are runnign the same turbo at the same level on both cars you have the same amount of air coing in, the higher compression ratioo will help move the air in and ot a bit mroe efficiently yielding a higher VE and a few more hp, but not 30, it's called thermodynamic's
