I've been noticing some ATF drops (quarter size) if my OL Lady sat overnioght in garage. R+R trans mount, lowered transm (2-3 inchs) trace wireloom to turbine sensor. It appears that wireloom isn't split type and obviously AFT runs down inside of it. I watched that wireloom for about 10 min and saw a small accumulation of ATF at the end at the harness (separated wireloom from others).I have searched "SEARCH" button and I don't like using hole saw. I think you can gain acces to Turbine Sensor bu lowering transm and finnesing your stubby endrench to get it outIs it something that is common on Y33 or rare ocassion?I've done so many Chevy (trans tailhousing) speed sensors (leaking internally) so I thought I got simillar case, nope VSS is dry as a bone! Thanks !

When you don't change ATF frequently enough [every 1,2,3 years] the seals leak from chemical decomposition of ATF......turns acidic.

Mine leaked at 30K and it had been flushed at 25K. So who knows?

Think Byron has a method for replacing without dropping, but normal is to drop the transmission and replace rear engine seal at same time as labor is almost zero and seal from Joe is cheap.

I did complete flush with 12 qts atf when installed transm cooler and noticed a slight leak after that (not right away)Is there a seal inside of turbine sesnor? All I found was a hard gasket between sensor and transm housing and it didnt seem to be leaking.I mean it is kinda odd to see a sensor in a upright position and have a leak at opposite end inside the wireloom (heatshrink). I am wondering when a leak occures in that sensor is it because mechanical wear (contact with rotating part) or something else?-BTW- Who is Byron? Thanks!

I know it is possible to accomplish this w/o R+R transmission. But I do not have any access to lift and different jacks to support the engine when lowering it on the engine/suspension cradle. I have done such procedure on domestic cars. EVER tried to R+R GMC Sonoma oil pan? Fun job.I know how to beat flat rate on 4.3L R+R I need about 2-3 inches of clearence to gain acces to it through the engine bay. I will get that sensor and will decide what to do.I am not worrying about it as of now because I am riding bike to work. I will be doing it until cold times hit! So, I got plant of time to "git 'er done"Cheers!
