Aright, to begin with my problem is this: i've been getting white smoke from my exhaust on my 91 KA24DE (fuel, not oil i think) only when i hit the gas from an idle, and only when i've been idling for a little while (like after a long traffic light). So my first guess is that i'm running rich; I'm running new ngk plugs, newish bosch wires, new O2 sensor so no troubles there. I know the wrong voltage drop from the maf ground can make KA's run rich, but when I checked my maf my multimeter read no continuity over any of the three wires coming out of it...so it thinks i don't have a ground at all. (also, i'm running a ghetto ebay cold air which may well be the root of my problem..and i think my cat. converter's on its last leg). Any suggestions as to how to check the maf voltage drop without continuity, or if not what else it may be?

If the smoke is white then you're burning coolant. I would do a compression test to see if your head gasket is leaking or not. Usually white smoke means your head gasket left for vacation and isnt comin home.

mine blew white smoke when my h/g went on that same vacation. Now when I'm full rich it blows blackish smoke.

huh...that's lame. i'll get a comp. test done by this weekend hopefully, but i really don't think it's my head gasket; i haven't noticed any other weirdness with the way the engine runs, and haven't needed to fill my coolant for about six months. and the exhaust smells fuelish...

btw, anyone know about what my compression should read if all is in order? i've been told around 30 psi is normal, but i'm not really sure if that applies to all engines.
