Everything is lined up for me to buy my first ka-t 240. Very excited seeing as i never put enough dough together to build my own(damn high school budget). The only thing is I need to find a tuning shop around me that will tune this car with the piggy-back system. Or if i can turn the boost down and tune it somewhat myself off of what other people have done. Does anyone know any shops in remote distance to this zip? 18337

Thanks

What piggy back system? Whats the setup?

You can get a good baseline tune for most setups already online that will let you drive safely around town for now. Some people even boost on them but thats not usually to smart. Just remember, piggy backs are for low boost ONLY. Running more than 7-8 psi on a piggy back is the most common way a motor is blown. Reason being.. A piggy back alters your timing maps by telling your ECU that less air is coming in than there really is, advancing timing. It does not just effect fuel maps.

I know there are some good tuners in Pa although off the top of my head im not sure who they are or where they are.

ABOUT 200K MILES ON CHASSIS, ABOUT 47K ON MOTOR, CARS RUNS GOOD BUT IT WILL NEED A PROFESSIONAL TUNE, ITS GOT A T3 TURBO, HKS SUPERSECUENTIAL BLOWOFF VALVE, 3 1/2 INCH INTERCOOLER, 3INCH PIPING AND 4' TURBO EXHAUST, EAICHBACK SPRINGS, BREMBO CROSS DRILLED ROTORS FRONT AND BACK, APEX'I AIR FROM METTER ($400 VALUE),BOOST GAGE, SHOT SHIFTER KIT, UPGRADED HEADLIGHT (PROJECTORS) AND THE BEST PART, THERE IS NO RUST ON THE FRAME RAILS

Make sure all those mods are in there cuz with all the spelling errors in brings questions to my mind. And listen for awkward noises like detonation etc..

Your not really giving us enough information to be of any help. We need to at least know what injector size your running. Or, if your running stock injectors, you need to NOT boost or your going to blow your motor.

So did you buy this car already setup like this? Did the owner before you boost it? What settings are in your SAFC low/high maps already?

If you want to be an a$$hole, do it in general chat. This is a tech forum. Seriously guy, fair warning.

You bought yourself a pain in the A is what you did lol.

Just take a picture of the injector tops in the fuel rail and we can see if we can ID your injectors. To narrow down the chance of you having a tuned ECU, you might want to pop the outer case off your ECU and take a picture of that too.

Do you have ANY idea what your doing with this thing? Do you know how to mess with the SAFC? It would be REALLY helpful if you figured out what your SAFC settings are. Need to know your Low Throttle map. It will come up like a bar graph with a line in the middle.

Soo did the previous owner boost this car? Did you drive it in boost to make sure it ran right before you bought it?

You have gotta get that guy to open up to you man. Just ask him, be like 'Dude i dont care what you did to this thing i just need to know every mod thats been done to the engine'. Find out if he swapped the injectors first and formost. If he really has no idea or is stonewalling you then you have to figure it out yourself.

Really just need to know what injectors he was running. Im guessing stock because this isnt sounding right at all.

No worries I have not yet bought the car. I am going to try and find out everything he knows but I think it was the previous owner who did the boost setup. So ill try and get the injector size and what the safc is running.

I am on my own here so I dont know much about the turbo parts and injectors. I do know about the regular mechanics. The best I can do for you guys I guess is take pictures. Anything exactly you want me to look for or take pics off. you can be exact because ill print it out and take it with me. Couple of my turbo friends cant go with me but one kid who has owned a couple 240s might so that will help. Anyone here from the Bloomfield area????

What state? Milford PA, listed in your profile, is only an hour maybe an hour and a half or so for me. I can be there this Saturday in exchange for a beer at your local bar Assuming your 21+, lol.

If your in Bloomfield PA, thats a little far...about 3 hours for me.

Honestly dude this car sounds like its in great shape. Since its not really a completed project you should be able to get this thing for really cheap for what your getting. Considering its a s13 with no rust, that makes it worth buying right there.

With a lot of research, patience, some extra money, and a little work you can probably have a great car at a really good price. We can help you to when you run into a wall or need some advice.

Bloomfield NJ is only 20 minutes from me.

If you want to meet up to look at the car, I'm in. Since the beer thing isn't a good idae, we'll figure something out.

Also, my friend has a shop in Newark. Raymond Motor Works. He'll give you a good deal if you are interested in having it towed from Bloomfield down to him to get it in running order before getting it back to Milford. I can even follow you up there just in case. Just let me know.
