so im looking at going Ka-t and the hardest part for me is the tuning aspect. so i have a few questions. if i want say around 250-300rwhp. would it be smart to go with a reflashed ecu? or just safc and msd btm? i want the most reliable street car set up, and im willing to pay the extra money to do it right the first time.. i know i will need all the supporting mods like injectors, maf, walbro, and everything. i just am stuck and confused when it comes to the fuel aspect, i just want to know what would be the best and most reliable for a street car application. Thanks, TJG

I really don't want to say this but...

please SEARCH!

This topic has been covered many many times...

I've been sick and tired lately seeing simple *** threads cluttering up this KA-T forum lately.

BUT, im going to help you since im here. For the money, just get a flashed ECU, it will save you headaches later. SAFC + MSD BTM is the same cost as getting a $500 tuned ecu and its better!

man just go with Megasquirt. its cheap, and YOU can control exactly how much fuel and timing you're pulling while you're getting down on it. its like 200 bucks for it if i remember right, and plus some lil sensors but hey its like 400-500 to get your ecu reflashed and if you change your setup, you gotta send the ecu back in.

just do it. its really not that hard man

Recommending that a guy with no tuning experience use a standalone like the MegaSquirt is stupid. Please refrain from giving out any further advice like this. Setting up a full tune by yourself is far from easy and by no means what you want as a noob.

okay, i reckon i just overestimate people like that sometimes, but you got it i'll keep my mouth shut about hard stuff.

..BUT i will say to you TJG that with THAT attitude about it you surely won't be able to do it lol but appartently you had considered it

WD a person should know his/her own limits just to say. i mean i didnt expect him to jump off the bridge after me. and yeah that last line wasn't meant for serious, sorry

Ms is a beast to get working. For your first project you want it to be as simple and easy as possible. Go with a tuned ECU. Plug and play, and thats all you need to know of the world of tuning for right now.

As your interest grows,(and your wallet lol) you can get into stand alones and tuning yourself if you really want to. I personally love tuning myself, its a really rewarding experience.

go there and use one of his ecu's tell him (Jason) I sent you (Justin)

I have used his tune for over a year! he set me up with a tune that is slightly rich and slightly retarded ignition timing so i would be safe. i had no problems with his setup, its plug and play, and its cheap! very easy for someone new to turbos. all you have to do is get a set of injectors (like sr injectors) and a turbo manifold and turbo of your choice (like a jgs manifold and a t3 turbo). you tell him what you want, and what your setup is, then he will send you a new ecu with the special tune. then unplug your stock ecu and plug in his ecu, done.... if you have problems, he is very knowagable and will help you out too! there are alot of options, just send him an email or whatever...

remeber to say i sent you. lol! later...

hey 480, you said its cheap, but you said he sends you another ECU to use..soo do you send in yours afterwards? sorry if i misinterpreted but that sounds too good lol, well i looked and his pages won't load up for me, whereabouts is the price for a tune, or ecu?

the biggest reason im going with MS is ultimately its cheaper than a JW tune or that other one i cant recall. man one of my buddies has been running his stock 1.8 miata for a month with MS now, with plans for twin superchargers i'll sit back and watch and learn from him first lol

If I click on the section for the Tuned ECU's or any of them for that matter, there is no page. Is his site just down?
