Is there any tuning software available for the S-13 that doesn't cost 3000 bucks?

What I'm getting at is this- I also have a 95 Camaro- I bought a set-up that is used quite frequently for tuning the engine parameters called LT1 Edit. It has cable that plugs into the diagnostic port under the dash and you run the windows based software on just about any laptop- you have almost total control of the fuel, spark, shift points, limiters, cooling fans, you name it- it will run real time diagnostics with every sensor and data recovery device on the car shown on the screen with real time data displayed- and it will data log as long as your hard drive holds out. It is really cool- and a really powerful tuning system. Now this was developed by just some really sharp guys in the F-bodytuning scene- and is sold only on the net from a small private business. Total cost? about 300 bucks if you already have an old laptop laying around. Where the heck does AEM and others get off thinking they can charge 2K+ for a system that allows you to do practically the same thing? I understand that you get a stand alone controller for that price, but why can't someone do a piggyback that can be added to our existing engine modules that can be interfaced with a laptop? I have looked but I'm not finding much of anything for our cars- is there a reason this cant be done?Meanwhile, JWT gets 500+ a pop for their reprogramming. There can't be that much to it. I suspect it is just a buyers market and they have found they can get that much for it. I know just enough about this sort of thing to be dangerous- but developing it is out of the question for my set of skills. Anybody?

Apex Power FCGreddy E-manage

or F all the BS and get an SDS or some other standalone. The OEM computer is not exactly your ally in the pursuit of power.

I did greddy e-manage with harness adapter. Cost about $550, and I got a sweet IBM lapcrusher for free from a freind. It supports up to 900cc+ injectors (if we are talking installed on a stock ecu programed for 370cc injectors) and does all the stuff a standalone does only no O2 sensor reader.

My install was on a SR20, so ignition could also be tuned via laptop because there is no distributer. EZ install harness also only availible for certain motors (but hey, skip the $140+ and do the wiring yourself).

Here is a good site to read up about it if your interested: http://www.mohdparts.com/emanage/index.html(ignore the crappy site layout, has great info and all accessories for the emanage)
