i really was set on gettin a Power FC for my rb25 till i found out they discontinued them and now sell for $1400!! i wanted to go that route because it is plug and play, no wiring needed. Megasquirt my only other viable option for plug and play tuning? I just dont like the fact of having to make an engine harness

Megasquirt isn't plug and play.. The aem is out of your range so you might as well look for a used RB25 pfc. Or be creative and figure out how to use an RB26 pfc...

If you have a nissan stay away from AEM. Check out their tech page or view my thread here linking to the problem there.

if a $1200 PFC is out of his range i would think SM4 would be as well. Plus the idea he said that he didn't want to mess with another harness.

dont spend the money just yet; just save up some more until you have enough for the AEM EMS

I just finished removing my Megasquirt and all mods to the harness for it, and have ordered a PFC. Megasquirt is not plug and play at all, which is why it's so much cheaper than a PFC. As far as I can tell, it's worked great for some RB owners and not at all for others. I, unfortunately, am one of the latter.

If you can't cover the price of admission you should stop now. If you have a functional stock setup running now leave it be until you can do it right.

That's not double, it was almost $1000 when they were new. Figure in the price of the commander so you can use the thing and the price goes up more. I have a hard time justifying the expense on a replacement computer anyway.

Try rinkya.com and browse through yahoo japan. Thats how I got mine about 6 months ago for $560 USD shipped to me. Granted the hand commander was not included, thats still pretty unbelieveable for an RB25 PFC.

You should really get a clue

I've put 10k miles on my swap this year alone, and i have made at least 6 3+ hour drives in the car........trips to chicago, indianapolis, st louis.....

Trailor queen? , the 10k+ miles, 50-60 dyno runs, 4 trips to the drag strip, oh and I drive it to work on days its not raining........yeah its a trailer queen

Its a joke cmon man. Not everyone with the aem has the problem. But if wasn't such a problem aem would have never sent out free cam trigger wheels at no cost, hell they even fedex it for free.

We provide a chipping service at Speed Theory here in Jersey for the RB25's. Yes it can be done!! Here we have the ability to chip the RB25 stock ecu's to make it fully tunable with any universal rom editor. We provide this service with either a base map to get you going or if you are in the northeast area a full tune. Its a less expensive alternative than Apexi or AEM. you can e-mail me at [email protected] for pricing and further questions.

A shop in PA does the same thing... its roughly 700 for the chip and first tune, then 120 for every tune after that. Perfect for me since I only plan on running bolt ons and <400whp. Uses all stock sensors so you can daily drive till the cows come home
