I just bought a S14 (1995) with 117k miles, it's a 5 speed. What should I do to it as far as a tuneup? Plugs? Everyone is giving me heat for buying a car with so many miles, but I think they last forever (had a KA24E truck with 174k). Is there anything that commonly breaks at around the mileage I have? (so I can be ready) or what can I do to make sure nothing breaks?

You're getting heat for buying a 1995 with 117k miles?! Obviously these "heat producers" are still living in the past. Cars now-a-days, especially imports, are reliable far beyond this mileage. Secondly, it's a '95...practically new. Do the standard tune-ups and you'll have it for a long time...plugs, wires, dist. cap, rotor, fuel filter, etc. You really shouldn't have any mechanical problems yet (i.e. u-joints, sensors, ...)
