I finally got some time with the laptop and did some datalogging yesterday evening. (On desolate country roads out in the middle of nowhere for all you "high and mighty" types.) Rewrote the INJ map a few times trying to get a dailed-in tune and HOLY $HIT is it fast! The thing runs smoother, sounds totally different, and has way more power. After I rewrote the map for the first time logging, I got on it from first and the thing got to redline so fast that I bounced it off the limiter. I'm usually pretty good about not hitting it, but the thing came up so fast that I wasn't expecting that kind of a difference.

I'm going to fill in the gaps and smooth out the bumpy spots in the map today and reload it tonight. I still think I"m running rich in areas, and might pull the fuel back even further with a little help from cdorhout.

I thought you were more mature than that! Driving around like a bat out of hell on backroads. You could have hit an innocent squirrel.

Congrats!

Wideband feeds into the datalogit at 20 times per second so no need to stare at it. Also have EGT from cylinger 6 in there too. This system has been the best investment I've made in the car to date!

hmmmm I'll have to borrow the camcorder from work and shoot some stuff tonight. Maybe I can find some trouble.

Hmmm...trouble. I like the sound of that!

I had a datalogit on my RB26-S14 back in the day and I agree. Best investment for the PFC.

Darius, I have the same tuning aids. Wideband fed into datalogit and EGT on cyl 6.

My car is poorly tuned, but was worse before. I am going to hit up the dyno.

Congrats man, have someone ride with you to watch so you can keep your eyes on the road. Much less stressful that way for me.

It would be good to have a map resource, but could be dangerous. If I were to use someone else's map and they have their timing very advanced, then I might detonate the piss out of my motor the first time I load the map.

Once you get the FC datalogit, there is a yahoo user group that has files of conservative baseline maps that you can use plus excel spreadsheets to help you quickly calculate injector correction values based on desired AFR's and other goodies.

Since I'm running lower compression, I'm going to advance the timing to see how much I can advance it before it starts to knock up top.

To save anybody running PFC and high boost (16+ psi) some headache.

The base IGN in the PowerFC is pretty aggressive. So when I was boosting 19psi it was detonating badly. I had to pull timing back 3 degrees in all WOT/high rpm cells.

Carl, I think you're running the same turbo I am (GT3076R), so beware of this when tuning. Back your timing off on the top end, and slowly put timing back in. I could have hurt my motor pretty bad if I didn't figure it out when I did.

strange that you were getting detonation, highest ive seen is 30 on a hot day at 18psi, but then again im running the 20 timing maps which have much more ignition in the low down to midrange but not as much i the top end.
