This weekend i'm gonna do a little tune up to the old 240sx, since my gas mileage has been going downhill. I plan to replace the following:-Oil and oil filter (duh)-fuel filter (with a z32 tt one)-new NGK plugs-air filter(still got the stock airbox :(

Anything else i should do for a "pre-winter" tune up?

p.s. i also want to clean the MAF sensor. What do you guys use?

Thanks,Chris

i don't think getting a new fuel filter designed for a Z32 will improve gas mileage. i haven't double checked, but i bet that the filters are the same.

yes you should use brake cleaner, carb cleaner leaves deposits, also check out your o2 sensor on the exhaust headers.

My friends have put in the z32 fuel filter in there s14's and they said there is very little difference noticed, but if you have seen the filters there are like twice the size of the ka ones. And I would assume that more gas flowing through a bigger filter can't be bad. Just my .02 -Jeromy

the z32's is for when you push into the higher rpms. The ka fuel filter becomes a bit of a gas bottleneck and your car gets starved. Then again, I noticed that I do run rich in the high rpms around 4k+ with the z32. But if you do go turbo, you should go with the z32 fuel filter as you don't want to run a lean condition on a turbo.

yeah you might want to check out your ignition wires too. Mine had resistances that were out there so I changed em for auroras that I got from PDM. SOHC for now, so only paid 30 for a good set of ignition wires. Also check your distributor cap and rotor to see if they need replacement.

If you live in a cold place, you might want to change your coolant with a different mix with a little bit more antifreeze. Might want to change your brake fluid, and of course do the regular checking over the hoses for any cracks.

There's no noticable differnce from the TT filter, but I believe it's cheaper - odd as that might sound.

you're supposed to use a 91 NA 300zx fuel filter. it it bigger and you can rev faster, i've seen it firsthand.

Clean your mafs, yes.Clean your throttle body for sure, use carb cleaner

Replace your O2 sensor as well if you haven't

Run some fuel injector cleaner through your beast, or seafoam, it's a good time to do it because after yo uneed to change your oil and plugs and 02 sensor

What's wrong w/ the rest of the Z years? The only one I could even see being different would be the '96 TT filter..but I doubt they changed it.
