Hey all,

I want to do a tune-up on my Pathfinder. I know NGK are the OEM replacement plugs but which model NGK is best? Also, I was wondering what the best brand/model of rotor, cap and wires are best for a 2000 VG33. Engine is in great shape with just over 105000 miles on it, but I'm pretty sure it's all original stuff in there. Thanks!

You'll want to use the NGK FR5AP-10 plugs. If you live by Advance Auto Parts, you can get 6 of these plugs, a Beck/Arnley distributor cap and rotor, and an NGK spark plug wire set for $112.91 before tax if you order online using discount code RAF7JA1102 and pick-up in store.

Beck/Arnley makes great parts, as does NGK.

Thanks, I'm in Canada so I'll have a look at advance online. At the Canadian tire here they only offer the iridium ix plugs. A little more pricey and probably not necessary.

The timing belt was done at about 90000 miles.

Thanks for the info.

You may want to check RockAuto then, I believe they ship to Canada and they have very competitive prices. Be sure to use a 5% discount code if you order anything from them.

Rockauto is a great sites with great prices. I can't believe how much we get the shaft on auto parts up here. I will happily help support the American economy!

I've read it can be a pain to change the plugs (especially #6). Any special tools I'll need? Tips ? Thanks again...new favorite site.

There should be a tool kit under your rear seat which has the required tools to make changing the #6 plug easier. There's a great DIY guide here on spark plug replacement.

Nice thread. I've got the kit but it's missing the extensions.

Where do you put in the 5% off code? I don't see any promotion code option on the place order Page.

Paste it in the "How did you hear about us?" box (or whatever that is labeled as). It'll apply the discount then.

Tell me which parts you're missing from this exploded parts view and provide your VIN, I can provide exact part numbers so you can get the extensions you need from your local dealer.

Some of those tools don't have part numbers. I'm not sure which tools you'll need exactly, but I'd guess you'd need the spark plug lever and the spark plug wrench right next to it. You can just order from Courtesy Parts, or try your luck at local junkyards to find them since the spark plug wrench is fairly expensive.

I've got a 10 ich and a 4 inch extension, and spark plug socket. Do you think that'll do to get the job done?

I'm afraid I don't know, since I've never changed plugs on a VG33. Hopefully someone else who has will chime in.

Thanks Towncivilian. I placed an order for all the stuff you listed from RockAuto for a good price and used the 5% off code. Can't wait till it get's here! I pulled out the number 1 spark plug to have a look and they definetely need to be done.
