I just got my 1992 se and i love it! handles like a dream. But it doesnt go so good (im pretty sure my 1992 bone stock civic DX would have beat it)

Besides the usual tune up items (rotor/cap plugs wires etc...) is there anything else i should look out for..... or maybe thats just how the ka is :pface but judging by the feel of it i dont think it would even run high 16s

Any help is greatly appreciated

hmm ok thanks. Someone told me that if the timing chain is old too that can cause small loses. is that true?

I have a 96 se with Apexi N1 exhaust and Injen intake, Sparko 9.2mm wire and Ngk iridium spark and I think it is pretty fast. was able to beat a 3.0 CL...but you should get a set of UR pulley, dyno show that it gain 9hp to the wheel for $800

Check timing and make sure you are using good gas. When I bought my car the people put a full tank of regular 87octane and it ran like poop. I couldn't wait till I it out of there b/c I noticed a huge difference when I had my old 240sx.

But yea, change anything that is questionable, unless there are service records saying they have been recently changed. Every car I buy, I change plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, any filter you can think of, and check timing.

I'd like to know to know what the next best things to do to get my car with 96k in good running order again. So far i did these:

- 300ZX fuel filter- New cone air filter (it is an APC temporarily, it came with an injen intake and the filter was in bad shape)- Carbon cleaned engine, oil and fuel w/ Seafoam(http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....=2312)- NGK Spark plugs- Oxygen sensor from Napa- Flushed coolant and filled with new- Cleaned throttle body and MAS sensor- Oil and filter change w/ Mobil 1 5w-30 synthetic- Tightened drive belt and a/c belts(they were a little loose)- Changed Differential oil with Valvoline SynPwer 75w-90, changed manual trans oil w/ Redline MT90- Tightened throttle cable which was slightly loose

It definately runs better than before, but the other night a 02 Lancer OZ Rally pulled up next to me. He launched hard at the light and i did just a soft launch, i wasn't expecting it. I got ahead of him at the end of 2nd and pulled away in 3rd, im not sure if that's normal or not. I gotta look at the stats on a stock lancer vs the 240 :-)

Anyways, would spark plug wires (what kind?), dist rotor and cap help a lot? My next few mods im tryin to save for is an ACT clutch and some new brakepads / rotors. I was also going to change the PCV valve, but i returned it after reading how hard it was to replace. Am i on the right track? :-)
