Hey NICO,

I am hoping that you can assist me. I am currently deployed, and am putting together an SR build. Everything should be ready to go when I get home... but I'm kind of stumped on the whole tune deal. Is it necessary for the longevity of the turbo/motor or is it something that I can live without? If it's necessary, I'll pay it, but I am willing to sacrifice a few extra hp to not pay the extra $500 for an Enthalpy. Suggestions? Below is a quick list of the important parts of the tune. While I'm here, can anyone tell me what I can expect for power too?

Thanks Guys!

S13 SR20DETGodspeed FMIC - changes the incoming air tempT3/T4 Turbonetics Turbo - changes the amount of incoming airdownpipe, hotpipe, etc. - changes exhaust back pressureHKS SSQV BOV - changes how the engine vents boost during shiftsTest Pipe - changes exhaust back pressureISIS Cat-Back Single GT Exhaust - changes exhaust back pressureNISMO Adjustable FPR - changes how much fuel the engine gets for a set amount of injector open timeDNA Manual Boost Controller - changes how much air the engine is ingesting740 or 850 CC injectors (havent bought these yet) - changes how much fuel the engine gets for a set amount of injector open time Z32 MAF - changes the signal sent to the ecu for "x" amount of air, as compared to the stock piece

do you really expect your stock tune to adapt to all of this w/o having to retune ? just swapping the MAF or injectors on an otherwise stock engine will make the stock tune worthless, and your doing WAY more then that

That is exactly the information that I was hoping for. I just wanted to make sure that I am spending the money in the right places. I thought it might be a n00b question, and I was afraid of getting flamed. Thanks for the info, very useful in planning my build

500 for the enthalpy tune you can buy an emanage ultimate for a little more . my friend is going to run it on his 2jzgte swapped sc300 he has aem wide band and it has a tool in its programming for you to set the parameters and it will pretty much tune it self with the wide band as the guide . Im really leaning toward this , another guy i know is really impressed with the emanage ultimate and may get rid of his aem stand alone because the ultimate is looking to be the better of the 2 he tunes aems a lot and says its a pain in his arse for the hot starts cold starts and a bunch of other stuff i don't even know about .Heres his myspace .http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... =114617499

Its set to private . err

Can you, in any logical way whatsoever explain how an e manage will offer more start up tunning capibilites than an AEM?

Because your piggybacking off the factory settings and it doesn't require any knowledge on how to set it up. But if you know what your doing then it's a different story

I never got around to setting it up on my 240 but that's a race car anyway so it's not an issues at all.

Agreed, however the stock injector pluse width map for start ups will be useless with 850's. But i think he gets the point...or atleast he should

Since there are so many tuning questions i would love nico to give me a spot where I could give some inside info about ECU tuning and such.
